Hero GoPro video clips on a Slow Stick

I managed a bouncy flight this morning before the wind got to be too much... even so, still a hand full below tree line...

In answer to a question asked in my other thread, no I do not worry about the lens in the open (not using the outer waterproof case)... that is unless I crash it hard and then any camera could get damaged. I suppose if I ran a gas plane I might worry.

I'll try my next flight loking out the side... or even back of the plane.

Oh, on the mount, I used that super duper double sided sticky scotch foam tape and just for insurance some rubber bands. The mount it'self is just flat aluminum bent to fit.

man, I forgot how SLOW a Slow Stick is!... and does not penetrate worth a darn! Low and slow is it's motto!

Hero GoPro wide mounted on r/c airplane (1 min 49 sec)

Larry,

The Depron Dragon is about all I fly any more (and that's not too aften!)... and usually for a photo job... I'd really like to get my little electric aerobatic 3D plane going again... that would be for fun :-)

Thanks for checking in

I've got a Powerline Hobbies Yak 54 and one of those profile GeeBee 3D planes that satisfy my need for twisting something into knots. A lot of time I don't even leave my yard. I just set them on the street and go flying. I love it when the barn swallows come up to challenge the GeeBee. I'll let them get close to my tail and then do a very tight inside loop and come up on them. Really freaks em out......... Sometime I need to put my FCO2 on one of them to film the fun........

Could you post some stills? I can't get the video due to firewall blockage (work computer). Overall, how do you like this camera? How's the image quality? I'm interested in AP, but I am not impressed with the small gum cameras out there. I'd like to be able to get more than 640x480 stills. This camera looks like it's the thing I'm looking for.

Still photo

Although not from the air (I didn't want to have to set up a servo for the shutter) here is a photo... looking closely you can see the lens looks pretty sharp in the center, but gets very soft on the sides - look at the trees on the right. The JPG image is 2500 x 1900 @ 96dpi before I re-sized it for this post.

The colors and contrast are good though, I did nothing to the photo except resize.

I think the soft edges are a trade for the WIDE (170 degree) lens. The STD was much sharper - but it was only 54 degrees - very narrow.

I personally did not intend to use this as a still camera, just video.

As I have also said before, lens sharpness can be more important than number of pixels... so watch that.

That looks really good. Thanks for the still. Definitely better than the gum stick cameras I've seen.
