The 85HV is too small for a 6s set-up, you'll cook it.

Is something like the 85HV capable of handling more power than an ICE 100? I know it will handle 4s more ( 8S compared to 12S )......but when I'm running a 6S setup.....would it help?
I didnt trust useing a 85 amp esc thats why I got the 120HV instead (I pondered that purchase for a while). I just wanted more head room just incase I was harder on the throttle or if it was hot out the bigger esc will shead the heat better

Wait....what? 9lbs? I was thinking these things were coming in around 10-11.5lbs? Yours is 9lbs?

Losi has hit the nail on the head. Too much power makes 3D flying twitchy. My 4.5lb 57" Extra had a ton of power(1200 watts), and it was harder to 3D than my 9lb. 2000 watt 70" Slick. Vertical lines were cool, but everything else was more difficult. Unless you have an ultra smooth left thumb, I'd say 2000 watts on the 70" birds is just right.

Actually, I believe that is the ESC that Ben originally recommended for 6S with an A50-16S using an 18X8 0r 18X10 prop.

18" prop on 6s will drop your watts to 1600 or so. I run 18x8 on 8s and get 2k.

Most are 9 to 9.5 pounds. I believe safetyHawks 8s slick is only like 9.8pounds (my slick wont be here until tomorrow)

One way to mitigate tons of power on these aircraft is to use a throttle curve. Set the curve so that you get more power at the last half of the stick. That way, at half throttle, you're in your hovering sweet spot, but when you punch out.... LOOK OUT .

the 85HV is severly under rated. it can without problem take 100a continuous. ben has stated on numerous occasions to treat it as a 100a esc

I know exactly what you are saying. My 58" PA extra is putting out 1150 watts and it's at an exact 4.0lbs! BUT.....I do most of my 3D type flying at 1/2 throttle and below.

I am going to try a couple other props to see how it performs when I'm flying and just go from there. I'm thinking with the results i just got from the APC and zoar 19x8 props and the one APC 18X8E prop , I think I am going to try a APC 20X8 or possibly a Zoar 20X8. I think that will be the "sweet spot"
for my type of flying.

Thanks for the link Steve, never read that one before.
Since I'm ordering a 71" tomorrow, I'll buy an 85HV instead of the ICE 100 and give it a go. I am running 8s so my amp draw is decent, and a couple hundred extra watts won't hurt my feelers too much.
