On my 74 its not the black, just a thin layer of clear on top of the black.

Maybe it's like a screen protector.

I don't know about the slick but on my little orange and black edge the covering is holding up fine.

Both Ultracote and Monokote, are basically a thin clear Mylar membrane that has a colored adhesive on it, so what is happening is that the Mylar is lifting off of it. I don't understand why ironing it back down is not curing it for some people. The couple of small areas that I have had lift did stick back down after a good ironing...

I wonder how many people have this problem

I wonder how many people have this problem that dont even really know it! Alot of people dont fly Low and Slow so they probaly dont even know that this issue exist. I am still waiting to see if Tower refunds the money for the DLE. I already purchased the OS because I could not wait Because they told me they would take care of it. We will see. regardless I am out a lot of money and time. I have now sent two DLE back at close to 20 Dollars a Pop!

I will give a Flight Detail after I fly it. I have heard different things on Props to break it in with. I have a 20x6 that I used on the DLE. Should I break it in with a 18x6 or should I use the prop that I am going to fly it with?? Or what is the best (Lightest Prop)

Sorry to hear the stories about the bad running DLE 30's. I finished up my 71" Slick this last weekend and it ran absolutely perfect in all attitudes, rpm ranges, transitions, and every 3d maneuver I could throw at it.
I have mine set up all stock except a breather line running from the carb diaphragm to the inside of the fuse. I also have a Bisson pitts muffler on it.
I also left the canister tunnel open and used the vented bottom plate to allow better airflow out of the cowl for better cooling and less chance of unwanted pressure changes within the cowl to mess up the fuel metering.
I tried about 10 different props through out the day and had no issues at all with it.

Here are some pics of my setup if anyone is interested.

thats a very neat and clean setup man. Nice job! i hope it never sputters on ya. Do you not make the big loop around on top of your fuel tank with fuel lines? i didnt see one. Most gassers ive seen do that for some reason i dont remember. ( dont touch it if it didnt mess up on you lol I'm just asking)

It is so your fuel doesn't run out the fuel tank vent line when you are on a vertical downline I believe.

When the DLE is inverted an dies, it maybe a tuning Issue, a cowling airflow issue , the diaphram spring being too weak, or the diaphram lever not set correctly.
Mine did the same thing an it was a tunning Issue.
I can now roll her over inverted at any throttle setting an never miss a lick
