Anyone run Solar D771s? Or should I just save for DS610s/7985s? ( was gonna go with motrolfly and ice 100 )

Edit: just going to save. Don't want to not trust cheap servos on a big plane

Not sure it has been mentioned, but has the fuel tank been thoroughly gone through? The slightest pin hole can play havoc on the engine. And make sure clunk is not touching back of tank.

save, but imo 7985s are a waste of time. get 7955s for that price (or a few dollars more). or go with the savox 1258tgs if you don't plan on eventually moving up.

I just started using them but only have a dozen flights on them so far. Plenty of power and very fast, center great. I have been using solar servo's in several planes of various sizes since they first appeared and like them a lot. I have experienced only three stripped gears and no electronic failures. One stripped gear due to jamming the rudder in my car, one stripped gear inflight due to underestimating the stress from the elevator on my Skywing MXS, and another stripped gear from using too long a servo arm on my SkywingEdge. So basically all these incidents were more or less due to my improper use or handling of the servo's. I do fly my planes pretty hard, especially wot tumbles and ke spins and such, so they do get a pretty good workout. The first set I used in my EF MXS for over a year have well over 200 very hard flights on them and are still going strong. Now all this being said, I'm not necessarily recommending them, just relating my experience with them.

I went from a 4325 to a 4330 on my 71 slick a few months ago. I would say I feel like there is 10-25% more power and it now is "perfect" for my flying style. Power comes on sooner and is more linear. It comes down warm but not hot (I was hoping it would be cold like my 4315 in my 57). Over all, I would not consider the 4325 if building new (it is still a great motor). I would consider upgrading if you could get 80% of your purchase price for the 4325.

I think part of the problem is that we are all wanting more and more power... back when the original 70" Slicks first came out we were happy with 1700-1900 watts of power. Then some of us started getting and liking more. I was one of the early ones to throw a 4325 on mine and rave about how much more power it had. And it did, it blew away the old recommended motors. Then the Hacker a50-12l was released, and it became the recommended motor, and 2300 watts became the 'standard'. And now the 4325 is just adequate power like the old 1700-1900 watt motors were. So people crave the 4330...

So - I think it depends on your style and needs. I was super happy with a 4325 for a couple years and hundreds of flights. Now in the peak of summer I did have to make sure the motor had cooling baffles or it ran a touch hot, but no big deal. But now that I have tried the 4330 I'm with dentalpain... I like it better!

I just ordered the 4325-380, hope I made the right decision, this is what Ken recommended to me

"For 6s and the Slick most use the 4325-380 and a 19x10 and very happy with it.
You could go to the 4330-400 and the same prop, amps may breach 100 so a 120 amp would be needed.

5320 would be too much I think.

Ken"

I have a 4330-435 on 6s with a 19x8 so when you get the Slick ready we can fly together sometime to compare.

My favorite 70 motor is the scorpion 4025 16 330kv(8s). 18x8. 2000w. The motor is a heavy 12oz. I think it out powered the 4325 310 on 19x8 I had. Don't have either plane anymore.
