Here today gone tomorrow

Had it working perfectly, would flip it inverted hold for awhile back upright ran like a charm, did this a dozen times or better. Kieth came to pick it up, bammo, same cp, flip it inverted roll it back it would die. Had the rpm's up to around 2300 and it would die after holding it inverted for app.45 seconds then flipping it back.

Is there some component close enough to the ignition to interfere with it somehow? Maybe try moving stuff around a bit... that is so freaking weird. I felt like that fix was way too weird to last

My guess would still be something inside the carb. just a guess.

Like I said I tried it a dozen or so times, idled it way down and it would not shut off. Got up this morning secured all the wires including the ignition wire, back to it's old tricks. You'd think if there was something interfering it would not matter what orientation the plane was.

He cleaned is original carb, then got a new one, no help.

Just a couple thoughts and sorry if these have been suggested in the past:

1. Be sure the hole in the reed valve absolutely lined up with the hole on the motor and carb. The plane won't run right and will do strange stuff in the mid and upper throttle range if the hole for pumping fuel is not going all the way through to the motor unobstructed.

2. Does the braided ground wire to the plug move around inside the cowl very much? When inverted, could the braided wire to the plug possibly be hitting another wire, like the ignition power wire, and grounding the power out when the plane is moving and the wire sags towards the top of the plane?

Tried that, no help. From inverted as you start to rotate it back to level at just about the knife edge positiion it starts to die, tilt it back towards inverted keeps running, go to level dies.
