Finally was able to maiden my 71" this morning. Running a Hacker A50-16S with 5S it lifted and climbed nicely. Didn't seem to have power to do 3d, but gave me time and power to trim it out and get a good feel of how it will handle. I must say that this is probably one of the best handling planes I've flown, even when slightly underpowered (due to the 5S). This will be a plane that doesn't get flown every day due to my transporting abilities, but it will be one I can already tell will be fun to fly when I want to fly something larger.

I'm off to build my harness now so that I can run 8S (2x 4S). I'm thinking this will be a considerable difference in power, and am anxious about it's next flight!

The A50 16s is more for 6s not 8s. You would have to run a small prop to run it on 8s and not burn it up. A50-14L is what you would want for an 8s setup

What size prop would be good for 8s? I was going with 8s based on the recommended batt from 3dhs. Any advice is appreciated.

Not mine originally but I set mine up like Losi and it has been amazing. Motrolfly 4325-310 using 8S via two 4S 5300 Gens Ace. 8-1/2 to 9 minutes with a Xor 18x8e.
With that said though this plane "is" that good and I can understand why people are happy with many setups.

If your asking if your A50-16s will work on a certain prop on 8s then no I would not reccomend it. 18x10 on 6s is about the best you can hope to do. IMHO throw it on a 68" Velox or 65" Vyper, or 62 Osiris and have MUCH more fun with it.

The recommended equipment listed on the website is in no order. They way they list it is a bit confuseing. It list the A60 16s and then on another line it says 8s. So it looks like it is stating that motor for 8s opperation but its not. its just stating that that motor can be used in this plane then stating that the 8s setup can be used in this plane but not necessarily together

Yeah. That's the way I read it. I may run 6s for now. Is it worth switching out to an 8s setup in the future? If so, ill save up for a A50-14L motor.

Harddrive if that motor is a 6s motor never fear you are still in a win win situation.Buy at least 2 6s 5000 ish packs and when you go bigger ie 87 shp or the 89 slick, then you already have the packs to go electric 50cc sex.WIN WIN!! its all good bro.also for the 65 vyper=you got a pack for it,, 68 velox on 6s=swap packs back and forth..efficiency in the hobby

Me and manta thought so(as thats what we did ) I like the extra power that the 8s provides. It allows for more momentum threw the manuvers b/c of the extra speed.
Though you have a light weight 6s motor setup for all out 3D awesomeness

Your in hickory. So not to terrably far from me. We should get up one weekend and fly. Then you can see a 8s setup and see which one you like the best
