If you use Gens Ace batteries on your Slick they are having a sale right now. I just picked up 4 more 4S 5300's

25C 4S 4000mAh is $37
30C 4S 5300mAh is $55
25C 6S 5500mAh is $77

The problem with Gens Ace batteries, is that they don't have higher C rating and higher cell count, I.E. you can't buy a 55C 6S pack... or for that matter high mAH rating either. 55C 2200mAH 3S packs are nice, but how about some bigger ones...
I did buy some 3S 1800mAH packs, and was amazed at how tiny they were... Of course when you also run a lot of 6S 5000mAH packs, any of the smaller packs seem tiny.

But I don't think the 25c is under rated though. If anything overrated. I've been flying a 2500 25c 4s in my 51, probably 30 flights on it. It out performs my 35c vx Hyperions, more power, comes down cooler. I think I'm going to pick up a couple more for the 8s setups.

Couple other notes:

Got me a HF IR temp gauge. SCorpion 4025 16 8s 19x8 xoar 6 minute flight comes down at 120 degrees. It's about 2100 watts in the 65a hood. I put a coke bottle scoop on one side. The a30 in the 51 also comes down about 115 degrees.

I also took the gear out of my 70 last night. Was doing some imac type flying up hiigh and forgot to switch to high rates when comming in for a hover, couldn't get on the throttle fast enough. But the good news after a MB kit and extra glue from 4 months ago, it only pulled the blind nuts out. About 30 minutes and I'll be flying again tonight.

+1.... 55c batteries, like say a 55c 6s5000 should theoretically be good for an amp draw in the 250+ amp range. Or even a 55c 4s4000 would be 220 amps! No need for that. I know bigger C rating equals better voltage holding generally speaking, but the Gens Ace seem to hold voltage really well in any case, even on the lower 25 and 30c ratings. I'm quite happy with mine, though I do wish there were a few more sizes.

My 4000mah 25C have no issues holding voltage at over 100amps. They come down in the 115 to 120 range after the flight. I would say they are underrated

Well I just reread my post but I think yall got the jest....yes underrated. I was thinking but not typing that their output is way over the 25c rating.

Question

If I get the 71 Slick gas then decide to go electric can you do it with the same 71 Slick airframe?

Just got my Motrofly 4325-280 in today and put it on the plane. Here are my test result numbers:

19x8 prop
1750 Watts
64 Amps
30.5 Volts after 5 seconds of full throttle

20x8 prop
2000 Watts
72 Amps
30.5 Volts after 5 seconds of full throttle

These numbers seem a little low to me. The batteries are Value Hobby 4S 30C 4000mAH batteries and they were fully charged. The Wattmeter I'm using is an Astroflight. Do you think that this may be a potential ESC programming issue? I'm using a Castle ICE 100A w/ the same programming as out of the box.
