Another Ritewing Zephyr build thread

After the death of my Maxi Swift I decided to go with something a little more versatile. I'm going to let the pictures do the talking on this build log and include descriptions in the pictures where necessary.

Day #1: Installation of spars and test-fitting video wire

webdr, I'm not even sure anymore if I'll do any covering. I'll need to disuss this with klique. If I do any covering, I'll make it blue & yellow, mainly because that's what I have lying around. No point fussing about the colors, since I won't look at the plane in flight after the maiden

Any reason why you used CA and not Gorrilla Glue for the central spars?
Just curious thats all

I am a bit concerned for you mate, I think the CA might be a bit brittle for the job, when I built my Lightning only Gorrilla glue would be up to the job, but thinking about it, I dont suppose you will be going 90 mph so should be fine

I will be going 90mph but no worries, I'm going to glass at least over the spars so they don't have any chance of ripping through the EPP. Also, I will take a lot of load off the spars by moving the batteries out on the wing a bit. My maxi swift didn't have any spars at all ... no issues at all. I'm not worried - yet

Hi guys

I would start with cg at 10'' to start.
It is calculating between 10 to 11'' on the cg calcuator.

thanks. I rather have it more forward since the outrunner isn't mounted totally in the middle of the wing.

Sounds good ,if you need to add weight to hit the 10'' ,then just make the added weight is easily removed for fine tuning if you find that it is a tad noseheavy.

The large root and tip chord on the zephyr should make it easily flyble anywhere close to 10'' ,it should be fairly easy to atain with this sweep.

Ck
