UK Gyro Meet 2010: Dates Confirmed
Gentlemen
After the success we had at this years little get together (apart from the slight breeze that was blowing ) I would very much like to hold an event at Winterton in 2010. If you would be interested in attending a UK gyro gathering next year could you please let me know and I will start making arrangements. Looking at my work rotation I will be free most of May and then the full month of July so if sometime around one of these months would suite please let me know. The club would love to see all who attended this year and welcome the rest of you guys who missed out. Maybe we could even tempt some of our continental cousins to come join us, it’s only a few hours on the ferry from Rotterdam and less than a 45minute drive from Hull ferry terminal to the flying site! Not forgetting our friends from across the pond, it would be a little bit more of a journey for you gentlemen but you would be made very much welcome! Our site can accommodate caravans and tents if anyone would like to stay over the weekend. We have fresh water and a nelson point for emptying you bog (toilet) If you like this idea! Please let me knowCali Last edited by Cali; Oct 31, 2009 at 07:11 PM. |

Did someone say beer tent on site? Now I'm more than a little interested....
Its a long way for me so I'm bound to be a bit parched by the time I've arrived and had a couple of flights Who knows by then I could have 3 a/gs flyable (if paul gets his digit out!) Gordon |

Hi Cali,
Such a great day out this year and I would love to do the same in 2010, thank you and your club for considering having us back. I would be up for camping and perhaps sample a swift half of your local brew. Thanks Chas |

Bob
As far as im aware there is no problem in the UK as far as 72mHz is concerned and I know that the club would have no problem. Most flyers in the UK are turning towards the 2.4mHz from 35. If you are planning on making the trip we would love to see you! Please let me know if you need anymore information and if I can help out in anyway please let me know (except for paying your airfare that is ) Gentlemen: I had a PM from one of our friends in the US expressing a desire to attend our 2010 fly-in, I will not divulge his name as Im sure he will post on here when he is ready. So it looks like we may have some visitors from across the pond next year which will be absolutely great! How about some of you chap’s over in Europe? Were not far away! Another update: Sorry Bob I have just been informed that 72mhz is not legal in the UK See what the mention of a beer tent does Cali Last edited by Cali; Aug 25, 2009 at 11:11 PM. |

72mhz not legal in the UK
Bill/Bob
Sorry, but it seems that 72mhz is not legal in the UK. Here’s a section from the BMFA hand book: "Contrary to some people’s belief, 72 MHz IS NOT A LEGAL FREQUENCY FOR MODEL CONTROL IN THE UK. A manufacturers development license is available (under very strict conditions) to bona-fide designers/manufacturers from the DTI. Anyone using 72 MHz without such a current special licence is operating illegally and may face a fine and confiscation of the equipment." Please don’t let this put you off as Im sure we can loan you a TX&RX for your models if you do decide to make the journey to this side of the world Cali |

UK Frequencies
Cali...
72 Mhz restriction is not a problem for me. I'll bring only 2.4 MHz stuff. If Boberos needs some, I can loan him some receivers and then he can use my xmitters. Bill |
