EAA does not have a Sport Pilot membership. They do have an Individual, Family and International membership available.

The FAA did create the Sport Pilot License as well as a new category for Light Sport aircraft and in response EAA started a separate magazine called Sport Pilot and the members could choose either the new magazine or the original Sport Aviation. Now if you want to point to what other organizations have done, EAA just announced the shut down of the new magazine to save costs and reduce duplication of content.

I live FULL TIME IN Muncie,IN

5 mi from AMA...

and AMA does well there...

other sites would be more costly

and have lesser income...

Possibly YOU have never seen the AG production there...( at AMA )

BUY LAND in CA would be costly and not productive and monies down a RAT HOLE !!! ( but it would make YOU left coast guys happy )

Land in TEXAS is affordable

we know the costs in CA !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ah now we really know how you feel about the west coast and Ca in particular. Its a shame that the AMA has people with attitudes like that
you just probably lost people because of that comment. what about the glue you were just talking about, no glue in that statement

who said the site had to be in CA, Oregon, Nevada, Arizona, they would all be great locations and most of us could drive there in half a day or so. If we were to fly to Texas, we might as well fly to Muncie. and who sayes the AMA would have to buy it. theres gota be some public land in any of the western states that could be used 2 or three times a year with less cost. too many options and closed minds!

Thats what I say, surely there is some cheap land somewhere in Calif. they could get an build a small building on it for a clubhouse/pit bldg. They don't need another taj mahal like the one they have now with the best of everything.

The AMA is one organization, it needs only one headquarters site. Like it or not that site happens to be Muncie Indiana. Any other flying sites should be the responsibility of those that will benefit from it. This is why we have chartered clubs. There are plenty of AMA chartered clubs in the country that have better flying sites than the one at Muncie and these were built and maintained by people that got off their butts and made them happen. Lets not see our AMA go in the way of the present national trend of providing for those that won't do it by taking funds from those that will.
