Western U.S. Flying Site
Silent-AV8R,
I understand that an attempt was made in the past to create a District X flying site. I am sure the people involved worked hard and went above and beyond the call of duty. The effort doesn’t have to stop there. If elected I would certainly discuss the issue with them so we could take away any lessons learned from the effort. I disagree that the goal of an AMA flying site in the Western U.S. is unrealistic. As far as asking exactly where I want to put it or where the money to pay for it is today; and who will do the work; I think those are fair questions. I just think it is too early in the process to answer them. One of my first actions would be to Chair a committee of District X members, and then through member input select a general area based on criteria that we as a group will decide on. As far as paying for it I see that as a combination of National AMA funds and fund raising that would have to be made in District X. My message is that it would be one of my three long-term goals for District X. I am committing to these goals; I believe if you don’t set goals, and measure your progress against them you have no idea if you are moving in the right direction. I am not saying I think the Regional site is a bad idea, I supported the first effort. But I am saying is that the Devil is in the details.

Lawrence, great to see new people in this area, you have my vote. I was actually one of the 100 people that pledged $1000 for the Visalia site and thought then as I do now this is a great idea. Darn those pesky toads. Good luck.

Thank you for your support
Fred,
Great to know I have your support. Please tell all of your AMA friends about my campaign. Let me know if I can get your club leadership's endorsement. I'd be happy to talk to them about my campaign. |

Sandy... look up the ages of when past AMA District VP's got in office.
Then just be quiet about his age. That should not matter at all. What matters are the person's qualifications and willingness to try to do the job. This person has one advantage over you.... he has time to learn. You appear to have quit trying to learn. |

Old guys are not worth a hoot in most cases. All they want to do is talk about the "good ol days" and how great they were 50 years ago. Any thing new they can't grasp. . Electrics? Forget that! I'll quit flying before I would waste my time on one of those things. I heard that just one to many times.
I'm very old and a registered curmudgeon you know ,but my imagination is intact and I love anything new and challenging, uh up to a point.. Converted a bunch of old guys at our field to at least try Electric. Pulling teeth and mule training is similar and as about as rewarding. My latest gripe is people who use The "Dr" in front of their name when it has absolutely nothing to do with their present life. The German's do that for Engineers. Every body is a Dr. there it seems. There when your introduces to Dr. Klinesmidtenhoff you assume he's an Engineer,. not a MD. I have a PhD and legally could use a Dr. in front of all my legal and personal stuff. I don't because it has absolutely nothing to do with my present life anymore. If I use the Dr. then I have to explain that's it's not a MD and where you got it and what it is. People then give you a dirty look and think your a kook because every body in this country thinks a Dr. is a MD. Last edited by dusty IV; Sep 20, 2009 at 03:20 PM. |

I don't care how many T-shirts you have. You obviously never got the one for common curiosity and respect of others. You only want to toot your own horn.... Ruff |

Malware . There is malware, I'm told , out there that messes with your cap key. It will randomly activate your cap key. On the net caps mean you are shouting. Every one will think you suffer from Tourette's syndrome and randomly shout various words out.
Just got off the phone with my Cousin Connie who is a retired Psychologist and old like me. Connie, I said, No one on the site like me. Your weird she said. You haven't met every one yet. I complained I didn't set out in life to be Weird. It was always the other people who called me Weird. Conversation went down hill from there. One has to be very careful in life. If you don't know where you are going you might not get there. I told her this site reminds me of being in the Navy, even though I was in the Army. 3 things in life are very bad for you. I can't remember the first two because I'm very old you know, but this site for sure is the 3rd one. A very good rule to live by-- Live every day like SUPERMAN does. Never drink when you fly. |
