Nice day of flying today. I was able to test my new 5.8Ghz crosshair antenna on my RX with my FPV Easystar . I have to admit: compared to the cloverleaf it's like day and night. No glitches, perfect picture, even when I flew to the end of the field, where the picture degraded drastically with the CL setup. Money well spent.

It was a good day. Even with the repairs I need to do to my 600, it was a great day. BTW, I was kidding about selling my 600 yesterday..

I intend to be there.

When I was getting ready this morning I noticed that the cloverleaf on my Champ broke during the "tree landing". I have to make a new one, but right now I just don't have the time. So the Champ is grounded for a while. But maybe I will just use a wire as an antenna. I wanted to check the range of the combination crosshair + wire anyway. If it works well, this would make my next park flyer project easier.

Darren,

I am sorry for the crash. I feel responsible because I didn't turn off the transmitter as soon as I pick up the plane. I didn't see you getting ready to fly but when I saw you it was too late. There are eight channels and we are transmitting on the same one. I learnt a lesson: immediately disconnect the power regardless of how far away the plane lands. I hope you will be able to repair the damage.

Again, my sincerest apologies.

I smashed up Big Blue pretty good today. Pretty sure its not worth repairing. Michael had just landed landed from an FPV flight and had to walk a bit to retrieve his plane. I asked him if I could use his fancy new antenna to see if it gave me better range. I popped it on my goggles, powered everything up and the picture looked great so I launched my wing, got out about 100 feet and the video switched over to Michael's plane. Dummy me forgot to wait for Michael to unplug his plane's video transmitter and we were on the same frequency. Another lesson learned!

Michael - It was not your fault at all!!! Don't worry about it. I will either repair big blue or switch the video equipment over to my Easy Star clone (Wildhawk) or I will buy a Swift II. No worries, it was totally my fault!
