Does anyone here except me remember the Meterior Strike Rock that we so often crashed into? Or the gravel road back to the substation where someone with an expensive carbon sailplane single-handedly darkened a large part of Huntsville? I very much appreciate a smooth level field this big, with modern amenities, close to my work, that somebody else mows! And now shade pavilions! Jim |

Let me guess, you're going to get a really long extension cord and fly with MORE POWER! Jim |

It looks a little windy today. I'm not sure yet about lunchtime flying today...I'll report back around 1030. Between the wind today and the tropical storm tomorrow, we might be sitting it out until later this week.

I was thinking the same thing. It's supposed to be in teh 80's all week so maybe the wind will die down.

Gonna try to get out there one day this week, if the weather and workload cooperate. Maybe Jim, Jeff and I can compare notes on our Sukhois.

I spent 2 hours socializing at RCRC yesterday before the 7 PM meeting (plenty of excitement over dealings with the city/SWMA), so I got no plane repairs accomplished.
Then the weather today looked like rain, so I have nothing in the van to fly. I'm thinking I need/want something like Craig's EPPYak (to fly thru the shade pavilions!) , but I have not gotten past thinking about what to build. Chuck suggests that airfoils fly much better than flat plates, but I'm not really all that interested in spending $100 plus shipping for something nice, airfoiled, and EPP from E-Foamy, so there I am.... Thoughts, PDFs, and some Bluecor and some 3 MM EPP and no decision how to proceed. Perhaps the Sumo 3D? Yes, I know, I could have stuck the Acromaster in the van. Do the Yak, Jim. It's a quick and easy build. Mine took me about 5 hours start to finish...and I'm a perfectionist.
I cost me $13 for a battery, I had everything else on hand. Even if you don't have a power system, that's only going to be about $30.While Chuck may be correct in theory, I would have to say my experience is different. I have three flat wing planes (the jet, biplane, and now the Yak). I love them and they fly great. I would have to agree with your not being interested in wanting to invest a lot of money on something like this. For you, I would say it's not worth it IMO. |

No, I just know you. You'd be happier with the Yak. In the several years I've known you, I've never seen you with a balsa/monocote plane.
