That's great! I can see this getting even more interesting on the ground with some light foam wheels and a steering/rudder servo.

This is cool. Do you have the wheels turning on the ground, or just the rudder doing the turning?
I'd like to do something like this for the school gym come winter time.

yeah that wouldn't be very nice.

Plans should be coming along very soon. We are working on getting some nice graphics for the profile driver/cart that you can print in color and paste to the foam to minimize the decorating effort.

The rudder is doing all the turning. Should turn very good on a gym floor. We were driving on artificial turf.

Thanks guys, I think this one is going to be a lot of fun.

Easy to fly + the ground running capability should make for some new stunts and maneuvers.

We have a couple of tweaks that should make it work better still.

I have to tell you guys this thing is fun to fly er drive. To drive we just give down elevator. This holds the cart frame level and lightens the load on the rear wheels. It turns surprisingly well with just rudder on the carpet surface in the video. I cannot wait to try it on a smooth floor.

What is the reason for having the rear elevon support the wheels too? Seems like it would put a lot of strain on the servo.

I didn't see it take off from the ground in the video. Does it do that?

I have been wanting to do one of these car planes for a while but they have all been too complicated. This one is getting down to where i like to build! 2 pieces to cut

Looks great leadfeather, can't see the video here at work. Can't wait to build one, about 18" or 20" square with elevators added on the back? Simple ERT controls, nice. Are the rear wheels connected to the elevators or to the main board via rod/wire? I love the cart driver/motor, gives it a cool fresh look. This could lead to all kinds of vehicles flying around.

At this time the wheels are simply connected to the elevons. This allows the back end to squat down for take off, and yes it will rise off ground.

There are several ways to do the rear wheels. We are till playing with this to get thebest combination that will allow it to rog.

Attaching the rear wheels to the main board via wire is another option Mike and I discussed; just not sure how it will handle the turns on ground. Also thought of using flat carbon instead of wire for better side force stiffness with this option.

The wing is 15" x 18" long including the 4" long elevons.

Skycart testing (1 min 54 sec)

Latest video! We got indoor onto a smooth floor. The turning is better on the smooth floor.
I made a few new changes and am real happy with how it is now. First was one that we have been talking about is adding side skirts. These do two things. They take some of the flex out of the base. They also trap air under it to help the ROG. It did already ROG but I was concerned after making the next mod.
Mod 2 was to move the rear axle foreword on the elevons. This did two things. One it took some load off of the servos and two it took some load off of the control surface. It did both of these but on the down side I lost some of the angle of attack available with up elevator. Fortunately it still did ROG just fine. I will test the ROG without the side skirts but they will go back on as I like them.
There is a surprise in the video for you guys. It is cool.

I was looking at some images of racing go carts. A lot of them do have side panels; although I don't think they are intended to help these racing carts get air borne

I'll post hand drawn plans later today.

Dickeroo (inventor of the KF airfoil) is working on printable graphic for the profile fuse/driver. It is looking very, very nice and will save hours of work drawing and coloring these details. We are planning to have it available in a few different colors too.

Motorhead is planning on kitting the cart too. He has some black epp that will be perfect for the wheels.

ps. In case any one is wondering, I do not do RC for money at all. Several have offered to share their revenue with me but I do not accept any compensation. I insist on doing this only for fun and sharing the fun with as many others as I can!

And I'll build one as fast as I can

You should test it at a skating-park as they did with the Snowball

Looks good. I like that you painted yours.
I have the kits up on my site now. The kit comes with all of the foam bits. We have a PDF that is being prepared so you can just print off the pages and glue them to the vertical foam. It takes care of the hard painting.

In the next couple of days I will also be set up to supply a generic vertical foam piece but you will have to wait for Adam to get his done to see why.
