If anyone's planning to dump their 8FG Super for an 14SG, I'll take it for a good price!

I wouldn't pay more for a redesigned 8FGs that has telemetry

So today at the park, I tried to bind my older 606fs to my 8gfs and it wouldn't link up. I powered the tx, then the rx, and then pushed the link button. The light went to red flashing and when I released it...after about 2-4 sec...I got a flashing green light.

I think that is the "wrong ID" error. After a few times doing the same thing, out of frustration, I held the button in for about 10-15 secs and when I released it, it went to sold green!!

I flew it so I know it was not bound to another FASST system that was nearby. When I went home, I went to another plane I have which has a 6004 (I think) that is what it is..the small 4 ch with the short green antenna, which I hadn't yet bound to the 8fgs. Again I held the button for about 4 sec and again the led flashed red while holding it, and flashed green when I released it. I held it in for 14 sec and released it. VOILA!! WHAT THE HECK??

Both rxs had been bound previously to my 7C if that makes any difference.

Anyone else experiencing having to hold the link button for that long in order for it to link up? Good news is I only have to link it once!! LOL!

Yeah, the trick is just to hold the TX close to the RX

I've not had that issue. But I link at home with WiFi router off, and TX and RX in close proximity with freshly charged battery pack.

Id prefer wireless transfer as they implemented in 8J...

would be great if it had both wireless transfer as well as SD card since 18mZ uses SD card

At a recent soaring contest in Visalia, CA there were a number of guys flying the 8FG. We regularly reach altitudes of over 1,500 feet and 3/4-mile out from where we are standing. These planes also typically have a fair amount of carbon in them and the radio parts are stuffed tightly together in the narrow nose of the fuse.

Thanks bro, that's around 4-5km with altitude of around 450m converted.
That's some good range I can expect. Ah, feels good to own this Tx

At the park I was about 1-2ft apart, but at home the distance was more like 1-2 inches. I just dont remember having to do that the first time I used it out of the box.

Always best to do linking at home. Its a less RF noisy environment

As soon as I get a new receiver, I link it, run a check on all channels and leave it powered up on the bench for a good burn in period.

Not if you live where I live. No less than 25 wifi ssids "visible" from home.
