I think we've known that 8FGs weren't upgradeable for a while now as there has been no hint of a software upgrade in this direction and those who claim to know the hardware say it isn't possible without modification.

Don't get me wrong the 8FG is a nice radio and I've tempted more than once. The 14SG is about twice the price so you get what you pay for.

Priced similarly to the 10C
Glad I held out on the getting another 8FG. I'll get this instead. Probably only available in December / January 2013.

Telemetry for me on the Tx was over rated coming from Spektrum. Never used it

OSD is the only "live" thing that I found useful. Of course an entirely different thing for FPV...

Here in Sweden they have advertised Futaba T14SG for price about 35% more expensive then Futaba 8FG Super.

First test flight was a quick one being it was 5:45pm and I only had a 65% charge on the lipo...

I went 1400 feet as a quick blast & this time I didn't lose signal so tomorrow I'll be going back to the 1/2 mile location where I did the Spektrum run.

Just flew with no changes to the set-up & reached the 1/2 mile spot... Other 8FGs or Rx had a problem for sure!

Tomorrow morning I'll be going until I hit fail-safe.
Bit windy today too

I just got my 8FGS back form Warranty service. I see the 14 is about to be anounced. I've never been interested in telemetry, so I am real glad I switched from JR. The 8FGS is in perfect condition now and I love it.

Kudo's to the service department.

Warm Regards,

Travis

One thing about the new system is that I hope one can transfer planes via the memory card with the 8FG. At least from the 8FG to the new system if not the reverse.

I paid $400 for my 8fg. Great price and good value. Though there is No way l can justify $600+ for the 14sg. My 8fg is nice and added telemetry would be great but not for that kind of a price hike. Hope its not that high.

Edit: unless they make the programming more like the 12fg.
