Someone posted this early on in this thread. It's a comparison chart for the different Futaba radios.

The 10C has 8 P-mix, the 8FG only 5, if you're not into heavy mixing, like me, the 8FG has a lot to offer.
Here's the link to compare features.

The 8FG has a limit of around 2000 model memory as stated in one of the Magazine reviews. With a 2GB card, I see 3750 memory slots when pulling up the card on my PC via the Futaba File System Utility. Suspect either one should be plenty for anyone.

As a rough estimate, based of the 12FGs statistics, the 8FG should hold around 3,764* model memories with a 2GB SD card.

Of course, if you ever run out of room, you can just get another SD card...

*Edited (Sorry, I forgot to carry the one... )

Actually the number is 3746 as the first 4 are blanked out on the card. Sorry for the grave error.... I am not exactly sure what was meant in the MAN review with respect to a limit of 2000, unless it for some reason is a limitation of the radio, but I doubt it.

FYI, the 8FG only allows direct loading of the 20 memory slots in the TX, the card is used for backup/storage purposes and software updates (you can however just copy models to the TX from the card quickly).

What does that mean? Simply that while you have unlimited "storage" of models by just adding cards, it's not completely seamless if you wish to use more than the 20 slots in the TX.

This is not meant as a knock on the 8FG, just another point to the discussion. The 10C allows direct loading of models from the CamPac, just like the 9C did (as far as I'm aware, I don't own a 10C), so if you do have more than 20 models you'll switch through in a day , and waiting a few seconds for a model copy would annoy you, then the 10C has an advantage there .

-Kai

P.S. I suspect they went that route because they relinquished control over the quality of the flash memory used (going from CamPac under their control, to any SD card that the end user has laying around).

yep, I had 2 old cells of a 2100 Mah pack left. Compared to my 6exa it has one great advantage: it swtiches off at low voltage. The 6exa has now killed 2 sets of lipo's after I forgot to switch off....

Gentlemen (and Ladies):
Had someone used his/her T8FG as the trainer instructor with a T7C as the student using the optional trainer cord?

Just wondering since I know the T7C I have is 9V while as I understand, this T8FG is 7V?

Thanks,
^R^

Edit: As jcervantes pointed out below, to be exact, T8FG is 7.2V (as 1.2V * 6 cells?) while T7C is 9.6V (as 1.2V * 8 cells).

Anyway, my concern is the voltage difference and what I got is the FUTM4415 trainer cable as suggested in another forum while the manual says FUTM4405. So, wonderin if anyone had done any trainer function and what cord they are using.

Sorry 7.2 but still voltage is higher when its fully charge. I don't have my radio here. A fully charge 4.8 is over 5 close to 6 volt, and a 6 volt battery is over 7v.
