Futaba 8FG(S)

Does anyone have more detailed information about this radio? Tower Hobbies has very little information.

I have been looking for a Futaba thatís in-between the 7C and 10C and now it looks like it will be available. I do like the new 8-channel receiver design.

Anyone have a good reason not to order one. I have a $60 discount so I can get one for $389.99.

Not much info on this unit yet, but here is what Robbe is showing.

Dimensions: 175 x 175 x 55 mm
Weight: 820 g
Frequency band: 2400.00
Channel spacing: 2048 kHz
Current drain: ca. 220 mA
Power Supply: 7,2 Volt NiMH-Akku
Functions: 20/10 Servos

It uses an SD card so the firmware can be updated at home.
10 channel radio (8+2)

Not much more than that.

Doug.

P.S. Check post #22 and 29 here: http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showt...1083285&page=2

I think as many heli's as you have, the 10CHG would be better. Have you scrolled throught the screens on one?

It does look like it has all the good features and helicopter programming at least as good as my old 9C 72Mhz radio. I have lots of PCM receivers that I fly with no problems so I donít want to convert it to 2.4.

I really like the SD card. I really donít know why all the radios donít have that feature.

I saw that (8+2) channel statement but I have no idea what the means. I assume that it comes their new 8-channel receiver.

You canít have too many radios Ė LOL.

If I were going to spend the big bucks I would go with the 12-channel because of the better feel of the ball bearing sticks. If I could get the 12-channel without a receiver I would have purchased one a while back. I have no need for that huge receiver. I think we had this discussion about a year ago and I decided to build another helicopter instead.

You canít have too many helicopters either Ė LOL.

The screens and menu's and graphics, are actually nicer on the 10C. Way easier to navigate than the 12 channel. That is why I got one. But, those ball bearings gimbals are great. Maybe they will make a 10C super that will have them....

Sure... http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXXCZ5&P=7

Video walkthrough here:http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1066681

Receivers are half the cost of Futaba plus a coupon for an additional 7Ch receiver for free with another for only $39.99 will be included with the radio. So for $469.98 you get the radio and three receivers.

What an odd thing to do, stepping into a thread about a competitor's radio and posting links to your equipment.

I assume you would not mind Futaba/JR/Airtronics employees dropping into your threads and directing them to their radios.

As per the origional post... Anyone? I'm anyone. Have a good reason? I did, showing that a similar priced radio offers many more features and functionality as well as lower cost of outfitting models.

I agree, very good reason.
The aurora looks like a good value for what you get.

Agreed x2. That and the 8FG doesn't even have proportional sliders...

Interesting. To lure me in all they have to do is get rid of that external antenna cable and get Unilog downlink functionality...( bidirectional, ie programmong the Unilog from the TX) would be perfect!

I fly helicopters so I would never use those anyway. I just need a good solid 8-channel radio with top-of-the-line helicopter programming and ability to save programming on a SD card.
