Flew from 1130H-1230H. Toooo hot but the sky's all blue! got some vids on our air space at Grant. See videos...
I saw another pilot flying a yellow aircraft (3D?) on the other street. But he left earlier before I could come over and introduce myself. If you can read this post, please acknowledge. Thanks!!! -Gent |

Too Hot to Fly
Great vids there! and Man you're not kidding!! Too hot to fly today, but the blue sky does look tasty. Heres a vid of me thinking about flying in Mather.
Nothing like last week. Here's fathers day at Folsom Lake
How do you get out to the Grant area where you fly (from Mather)? What's the cross street? Maybe I could come out and meet sometime... |

Nice vids, man! Funny flying with the flies, LOL! Great flying at Folsom Lake.
Grant Flying Area (I call it that, others may contradict... ) is accessible via Highway 99. Just go 99 south past Elk Grove Blvd. Then exit at Grant Line Exit West, then turn right to W. Stockton Blvd. Your reference will be the unfinished Elk Grove Mall. Opposite the mall entrance is the flying area. We have two paved roads for ROG and the vast air space for unlimited flying. We don't have flies, hehe! Hope to meet with you sometime. Your flying area is near Mather Airport? I think you have a club there, right? -Gent |

Gent,
Good flights, sorry it was so hot for you and I could not make it out. I am thinking of making the trip next sunday at 10am and calling it a day around 12! Unless the weather gets cooler next weekend. Sinai1, From Mather, you should just have to take HWY 50 to 99 South, travel about 10-15 minutes to Elk Grove and take the "Grant Line" exit. From there make a right at the exit, and then a right at the first light, which will take you on the street that is along side the "Mall". Turn left on to the dead end road you will recognize from the videos. It would be great to meet you out there. |

lol, wasn't too hot to fly today. Went out at about 11:30 and flew my Radian for an hour and a half. All that heat makes for some nice lift.
Wife called at 1 and told me it was time to hit the movie theatre. Toy Story 3 during the heat of the day. Here's a video from last month.

gent 96 and ender707 thanks so much for the directions. They do have a club here, I have my AMA membership current, but have never met anybody or flown there. I'm more into parkflying, and tend to keep my group to no more than 6: ... Me and 5 other flies! ... lol I appreciate the invite. that'd be great if we could hook up some time.
Belem, did that Radian go vertical!!? Great vid. Awesome Hawk screaming in the background too. Both beautiful and painful to watch. Did it crash? Where did you fly today? |

Yeah, that thing can fly nearly vertical. 30 seconds of throttle and then settle in and look for thermals. I had my best flight of 26 minutes yesterday and could have gone longer if the wife didn't call.
No real damage on that 'landing', just a little road rash. Sunday I flew at a school next to my house. Little small for my T-28 but plenty of room for the Radian as I just go straight up. |
