Used to race years ago, counted laps and watched and then raced a race or two - woulda broke my heart to slam this into the ground so I put a different carb and I fly it when I feel the need for speed...

They outlawed this Fox Q500 engine many many years ago, probably not fast enough but it's fast enough for me...

Hey Steve,

I have a Sky Raider Mach II arriving tomorrow because I saw it in the AMA Mag this month and thought, I can do that and it might be fun!

Any info on the 40 class (engines, restrictions etc.) would be helpful.

Where do pylon events occur in Western WA?

-J.

for q500 and q40 racing in the northwest, check out the http://www.nwprops.org/ for race event.

skyradier racing on the other hand check your pm's gave you some more info on that.

trying to find this one website that breaks down each class of q500
the basics

424 APRA (120mph ish)
no less than 3.75 lbs
tt pro .40
apc 9x6 prop
q500 airframe/wing (greatplanes Viper 500...)
no composite wings or stabs

this is the entry level q500 we race here fun competitive.

428 q500 (170mph ish) AKA Expert quikie
simalar aircraft composites ok
nelson/profi/jett .40 engine
apc pylon props many sizes
same wieght 3.75 lbs

quite a bit faster.

i will pm you the website when i find it or post it here

q500 racing will most likely start in feb or march so new racers have plenty of time to get ready. vipers are easy to put together, couple of things you must do to make them ready for racing but not hard..if you need any assistance let me know
