KA4 Preview

Sneak Peek.

The photos are extracted from an 8mm movie film. The venue is Frankton Airport 1967 and was the Southland Gliding Club Christmas camp. This is where I had my first (and only) glider flight with my father at the controls. I still remember some parts very vividly.

This glider has unfortunately lost it's registration, ZK-GBO, but I now know that it is parked up in a shed waiting to be restored. That would be nice to see. So this is the glider I'm modelling and a preliminary pdf of the tailplane section is attached for your temptation.

Enjoy

How's the build going?

I am thinking of building a Ka4 as well but smaller, due to the size of my build table and work area. I was thinking of a 1:8 scale, which would give a WS of 162.5cm. There are no plans that size, so I'll have to draw myself. That'll be a first!. It would be build for sloping, and maybe hi-start.

My first glider ride was in a winched Ka4, hence the Ka4 interest.

My apoligies "Up&Away" I didn't see you comment.
Building progress is slow. Rudder and fin built, starting on the elevator next.
Having second thoughts about rib thickness:- 5mm without cap strips; or 2mm with cap strips.
One would be quick but possibly heavier.

There is a plan on the "web" just get it printed to the span you want.

Sorry for late reply,
Cheers
