It sure got awful quiet around these parts, didn't it? Listen to the sound of them crickets. They sure do sound purty...

Seriously, though, I wanted to keep the price of the kit under $200, but the cost of contest balsa has really gone up. I had planned to offer the kit at $189.99, but when I saw how much the contest sheeting was costing, there was no way I could offer it that cheaply.

I know that a lot of you guys would like to build one of these, but that's a lot of money to drop all at once. So, I've decided to offer a tiered pricing structure so that you can still get a kit and spread the costs out instead of all at once.

$149.99 - Short kit. Includes laser-cut wood, plans, molded nose cone, engine nozzle, clear canopy and .010" tailpipe plastic sheet. You supply the sheet and strip balsa wood, magnets and bristol paper and print your own copy of the manual from the web site.

$159.99 - Standard kit. Includes everything from the Short kit, plus magnets and bristol paper. You supply the sheet and strip balsa wood and print your own copy of the manual from the web site.

$219.99 - Deluxe kit. Includes everything from the Short and Standard kits, plus all contest balsa sheet and strip stock needed to complete the kit. You print your own copy of the manual from the web site.

[edit]Based upon popular request, this kit will not include a printed construction guide and the prices above have been adjusted accordingly.

Thanks,

Dan

Pricing sounds good to me, Dan. We've been spoilt by Chinese ARF prices, some would say, however, I reckon they've been ripping us off silly. BTW, when I visited one of the larger turbine model ARF manufacturers in China last year, I saw a brand new Merc and BMW parked out the front. How many kit manufacturers in USA would have that? What does that say? This is a properly designed and engineered kit which will build properly and fly well. Using contest balsa makes it even more desirable. I think just downloading and printing the construction guide is the way to go, we all have printers, but we don't all have laser cutters and balsa forests in our back yard.

There is a process, first you must exercise patience. When the family is ready, they will contact you and you can offer a small tribute. In return for your tribute, you will become a proud member of the SavageLight F-4 family forever, and you will also receive a small token of our appreciation that you may keep and do with as you please.

See, I was just being patient and not coming back every 3 hours looking for the announcement.

My LHS went out of business, put it all in the box and I'll buy glue and covering. Printing instructions I can handle, there's a nice color copier / printer at work.

Going to Nall next week and Canada for an event at the end of the month so if I don't respond for a few days or a week not to worry...

I have always wanted an F-4. Put me down for a full kit, and ship in a box that says medical supplies, urgent. Nah, on second thought I don't think that'd fool my wife once she sees all the balsa strewn about....

BTW, just let me download the PDF, and keep the kit price down.

Thanks, Fuzz.

I haven't yet weighed a kit, so I can't say for sure. But, the short kit probably be pretty close in weight to the F-106 kit, which weighs 5-1/4 lbs. Shipping via parcel post for a package this size to RI costs $16.00 including insurance.

Thanks, Stu. I sell the kinds of kits I like to get. Building kits from contest balsa makes the process enjoyable.
