How to repair an electric motor.

How to repair an electric motor.
Como reparar un motor electrico.

Electric motors are somewhat fragile. bends or breaks the shaft, the wire breaks, you are off the magnets, are damaged or ball bearing, and end burned and must be repaired.

It usually is not difficult.

The forum will put some tips and procedures for doing so and will be only for outruner motor.

The most common fault is a broken or bent arrow.
almost always a bad landing or a crash.

For now I do not have a motor with the broken or bent arrow. so I only put the procedure to remove an arrow, and later explain the difference to remove a bent or broken.

In the first case the most simple, just remove the small screw on the front of the bell and the arrow slides inwards to outwards.

Most of the motor on the arrow to bring pressure and it is impossible to remove just remove the screws from the hood.
For these cases it is necessary to have a vise and with a few tools or guidelines for the implementation spells.

The idea is to move the arrow through the bell, without spoiling it. out as a beating or pushing in the wrong way can cause any harm in it. hurt from the magnets, bending the bell to make the hole bigger, able to prevent a new shaft.

If it is to put a new arrow, then looking for a replacement. either buy the correct spare parts, using a piece of another similar motor,or making one.

for small motors, with arrows 3mm. You can use the CD rom.

If you use a CD rom guide. usually be very long. and this is the procedure for cutting.

Now assembled the motor and put the C clip.
In this case the size of the arrow includes the measure of a thrust washer. before the C clip.

The Thrust washer is more little a
to generate friction with the ball bearing.

What a short copper tube 3mm in diameter inside.

Option 2.

This is the method used for most motors.

To remove the stator, it is necessary to heat it, when it is stuck.
It can be done with soldering Iron, solderin gun, gun Paint remove,

To remove a stator of a Hacker, you must first remove the top clip of the stator.

To remove one of Eflite, must be heated for a long time since they are very, very stuck.

Some SK turnigy and KD, also bring a lot of rubber.

To remove the wires when they bring rubber. First with warm soldering iron.

Other ways.

Warm up the engine as in mode 2. and when ready the stator, put some screws in the bottom of the engine and tighten the pressure by the stator.
you can use any piece of plywood or aluminum to prevent damage.
(The screws should be longer than those used to mount the engine.)

This method can be used when the stator has a crib and can not be removed.

Other and very easy.

check pictures.

Jack method for pres fit stators:

Motor clean.

No matter which place a fly. sooner or later the motor will have plenty of dirt particles in it. (I refer to outrun an motor.)

To clean, it is necessary to have a small hard brush or paintbrush, tape, and denatured alcohol .

Separates the bell of the stator.

And with a tape, tooth stick a skewer or a stick is clean inside. The tape collects all particles, even the metal.

Ends giving it a clean with alcohol. (optional)

Never put oil on the ball bearing.
one can put a drop of the shaft and then clean it.
oil only serves to trap dust, and the mixture weakens the ball bearing and shaft.

If necessary, clean the terminals with alcohol.

The acetone or liquid to clean off the nail can take off magnetos, spent finishing up the motor and stator epoxy.

The CA glue and the heat can damage the coated wire and produce short,

Another way to clean the motor is running water and washing with a brush. but need to dry it at 100% to prevent particular oxide before use.

This method is used to clean all electronic equipment, because water is the best and most economical of all solvents.
