The HobbyZone Super Cub LP is the long awaited update for the original Super Cub.

Model Specs are:

Wing Span: 47.75 in / 1200mm
Overall Length: 32.5 in / 825mm
Flying Weight: 25.2 oz / 715g

First you should already have installed FMS 2 alpha 8.5. The older 2.7 version will not fly the newer models.

Then click on a link for an airplane. When it asks to save or open choose to "open" the file.

Then extract the contents of the .zip file to the C:\ Program Files\ FMS\ Model\ directory.

Same place you downloaded v 2.7.

There are some known issues with FMS 2.8.5 with WinXP if your computer does not have a serial COM port and with Vista missing the DirectX 9 .dll file. You can find fixes on the FMS Forum.

Thanks for the new model, it flies really nice ! Do you have experience with both models, and is it actually that much more powerful with Lipo ?

Anyway, thanks also for linking to those other cubs, didn't have the aileron one before. Ailerons sure seems nice when trying that one !
The standard cub seems the closest in flying characteristics, to my own Kyosho J-3 (same as parkzone J-3)...but very nice to have these other versions.

I fly my original SuperCub with 1350 mAh LiPo and the smaller prop and it flys extremely different from the stock prop and the NiMh batteries which have lower voltage and increased weight. Higher voltage means higher prop speeds, lighter weight means better watts/ounce. Consequently, it is like night and day. I was not a fan of the model until I converted to LiPo, now it is quite awesome.

Stock SC, straight and level or maybe even a drop in height leaving your hand and need to build speed before climbing. LP SC, climbs strong at a 30 degree angle when leaving your hand. Stock SC, no tight turns low to the ground as it falls from the sky. LP SC, tight full throttle turns with very little loss in altitude. Just a few differences.

I hope the new LP FMS model captures them.

From what you describe that sounds pretty accurate - power is like night and day on the two FMS-versions !
