Announcng the BI-3600 inrunner for 70mm fan
After many emails asking where is the 70mm Wicked motor I have a nice solution for those who want to to fly 70mm models but do not high amp high watts setups but more of a sport setup. The best way to describe this motor is it is a little hotter than a 2W-20. In the HET 6904 fan you will get about 100-120 more watts and more rpm as well. Here is some test data for you.
BI-3600 HET 6904 Fan 4S3000 20C lipo: 41,500 rpm, 810 watts, 58.18 amps, 13.92 volts 4S4700 25C lipo: 44,000 rpm, 950 watts, 63.88 amps, 14.87 volts OD: 28mm Length: 47mm Shaft: 1/8" (3.175mm) Weight: 134 grams (as seen in photo) KV: 3600 For comparison: 2W20 HET 6904 Fan 4S3000 20C lipo: 39,600 rpm, 700 watts, 49.30 amps, 14.20 volts 4S4700 25C lipo: 41,600 rpm, 836 watts, 55.8 amps, 14.98 volts So a nice way to get a little more rpm and power over a 2W-20 setup without the need for high amp and high cost ESCs. This motor is intended for 4S use only. http://www.donsrc.com/cart/index.php...d&productId=82 Don Last edited by The Don; Jun 28, 2009 at 10:25 PM. |

Bi 3600
Well let me be the first to pop in here give you my experience with this motor.
my Son (corsair nut) got two of these from Don to test. C/N has been gone out of town working so the testing defaulted to me i only had one air frame that i trusted enough to do the testing with ....my good ole F-4D Sky Ray (scratch built ,depron foam)i have been testing a JS1400 /HET 6004 fan in it with a XPS 5000 4s batt. awsome performance over the orignal set up of a HET 2w /HET 6904 fan, it did about 600 watts on a 3700 3s batt and was a fair performer for its size and weight. the JS combo is a good set up but requires a big batt ,big esc ect ect . so i decided i would set up the "blue ice"colored motor with a 60amp pentium esc that i bought from Don.i have not tried to tune the motor esc combo just pluged it in and flew it . The motor ran very smooth and i was impressed with the numbers over 850 watts and about 60 amps on a XPS 3200 30c 4s batt. Wow thats pretty good so i proceed to fly the plane. now i had just flown it several weekends in a row with the JS set and it was really fun with all that power on tap.the BI 3600/HET 6904 /XPS 3200 batt .....i was easy on it at frist to make sure it would'nt smoke....so i used a batt that was'nt as powerful as th XPS ,next flight i put the XPS 3200 in and i was taken back by the performance..i really could'nt tell much of any difference in speed or vertical .what i did notice was man it is turning really sharp and seems to be "floating along"....after my normal routine i came in for a landing ...what a kite,i taxied back and ck the temp it was only about 10 degrees above ambient . thats when i started calling it the "blue ice" motor. So my feeling is this.....the 2w20 is a great motor ..the big blocks JS1400 ,Hoffman ,ARC motors have there place ....but we have seen guys stuffing these in foamies and trying to fly them on too small a batt. this motor gave me close to the same performance as a "big" motor but with as much as 12 to 14 ounces less weight. i think the 3200 ish batt is the perfect size ...but i think it would do well on a 2500 ish pack in a small foamy such as our beloved HP F-16 .i have flown it about 8 times now as of this writing and i really like it ...the temps out here are rising daily and the motor cont. to perform flawlessly and so is the pentium 60 esc . i hope to get some vid up soon of the plane flying...also im fixing up my HP F-16 to use a wemotec 480 fan and the other BI 3600 motor and flying it on the 2350 rihno 4s batt to see how that combo works ...any way it's a great motor for any 70mm foamy that is out there ...cheaper esc required, cheaper batts required ...less weight perfect for your favoite foamy, give one a try you wont be disappointed. Thanks for the feedback Air Sally! I've been talking with Don about this motor and I think it would be a great motor for my HET Super Sniper I'm going to build with the HET 6904 fan and a 4s lipo.

Just saw this motor on Dons website. Looks like a good candidate for my GWS J-10. Im running it on 3s around 450~500 watts right now and it needs just a little more oomph. 600watts on 3s would be about right for a nice light moderate power setup. And wouldnt take much to pack a 4s in there if the speed bug bites.
Thanks for the info AS. |

i tried 3s but i only got 450 watts ,,,but it was a old batt that has'nt been used in a while ...Don designed this motor for 4s and the bigger the batt the more it puts out ..but i think most foam edf will perform nicely on a 2500 to 3200 4S Batt 20-30c. i like the 3200 xps batt for the best weight and power. Ideal motor for a foam plane ....it fills the gap between a 2w20 and the larger JS1400 /Hoffman /Arc 1 turn(these require a larger batt and esc.)ck my 33" sky ray thread so you can see the size of plane it is.i need to lern how to post a link

I think i miss read your post the first time. I thought you were saying this motor put out 600watts on 3s, but i see you were referring to the HET 2W-20. My mistake. |

i just ran up the BI-3600 in a wemotec 480 with a 2350 rihno 4s 25c batt and it peak at about 730 watts and 50amps ...it settled in @ 690 and 49 amps...not to bad for the 2300 batt time to fit it into the trusty old, beat up HP F-16 .i only had a 45amp esc ....poor thing it's going to get hammered

Congrats Don
Sounds like a good motor for lighter set ups. Should fill the void between the enemic and crazy

Flew my HP F-16 with the BI-3600 /wemotec 480 ...it flew well but the poor little 40 amp esc said that is enough ...it cut the power so i flew at reduced settings and landed ..there is a vid up on you tube of the Sky Ray ...go to "youtube Scott Metze" channel...you cant see much but the sound is good .
