I put some video gear on my Squall and had a couple of FPV flights. It was a blast to fly this way. I did my first FPV aerobatics

I use a 19" led TV powered from a power wheels 12v battery and inverter. It's all in a Pelican case for easy setup. The sun shield is just three pieces of foam board, interlocked together.

cool, thanks , i dont know much re. fpv but it's intriguing . some guys i slope soar w/ use a goggle system , wild , cant imagine using something like that on a fast plane as it looks like orientation would be a problem . do u look directly at the plane much? and was that tree as close as it looked ?

I was alone, so I hand launch and then I sit down and fly from the monitor. I didn't look at the plane for the whole flights, all flying from the monitor. It's just like a flight sim.

Awesome vids - thanks for sharing. I've always dreamed of having an FPV setup - haven't pulled the trigger yet though. Could you give an estimate of how much that setup cost?
Thx,
Josh

Oh, almost forgot - that first batt looked like it got a bit beat up (10v at the end of the flight). Did it come down super puffy?

The bats are pooch. They are the ones for this EDF and have been sitting around , at half charge, for two years. I wasn't expecting much. I saw the voltage drop off right away on the first flight so to heck with landing, just run it down. The second bat was a bit better but they both are labelled NFG now and off to be re-cycled. I just ordered some new ones from HK.

My FPV gear, I've collected over the last 4 years. ReadymadeRC have rtf packages for fpv that are good. My Squall setup is a 400mw 1280 vtx-$40-$45, 5v ImmersionRC 922 camera-$75, TBS Core psu/osd(supplies 5v/12v for vtx, 5v/12v for camera and osd if you want to enable)-$79. For the ground station all you need is a vrx and google/monitor. This is just a basic setup. I have two vrxs and antennas, Oracle diversity controller(picks best video signal), DVR for recording and my monitor setup.

Maiden

Nice Video,
Going to maiden with VT today. It'll be the first EDF I've flown with thrust vectoring. Kind of sucks that the stock unit is hard wired and can't put on a switch.
We'll See!.
2350kv 70MM 7 blade fan w/60A ESC & 14.8V 4s 2200mAh 65C LiPo.
P.S. If you look, you'll see the foam around the tail and a little of the wing is eaten up. CA kicker will do it

I want to go 140 MPH!

This is my Squall. What kind of speed can I expect with this setup on 4 cells?

The intake has been fiberglassed and the airframe has been covered in Ultracote.

Maiden Thursday

I KNOW mine doesn't do 140, but I got it to checkout the Vectored Thrust. Pretty twitchy on the maiden flight in the video, so I changed the expo from 30% to 60%. That seemed to settle it down.
More to come...

kmdunnster, I said I wanted to do 140, if you can read? If you want to fly 3D you can buy one of these instead of using your squall....
