I thought this plane was made out of EPO foam.
It is made of EPS which is to brittle for my taste.
I have a HK Mirage 4000 which now looks like a Frankestain airplane from all the glue used to repair all snall and big crashes.
My Stryker and Stinger 64 have taken similar abuse without the easy breakage.
I really like this plane.
Is there anything that can be done to make it stronger and preventing easy breakage.
Is there another plane similar to the Squall made of a stronger foam?

The plane is made of EPO not EPS. Earlier in the thread there are plenty of examples of how to reinforce the fuselage so it doesn't snap off the nose on a hard landing.

Below is one example of 3 CF tubes being added.

edit.... Material Is EPS not EPO, my error.

I was looking at the Hobby People site and the product description says EPS foam.

Yea Professor, you gottem backwards. 2mm carbon in the leading edges and duct work are a must to make it last.

At least now a I know it can be done and a 3S can be run in the 4S setup. woot woot!
Hi warp

pls stay 3S, let the Squall at home and test the parkzone Stryker--- this plane is faster and makes more fun ! Sorry to say this but I bought also a Squall 3S VT, was lucky with it up to the Stryker comes. The Stryker flies circles around the Squall and can more aerobatics in the air (Boomerang, Elevator etc.)
Now the Squall hang at the wall and has to stay at home

well i was going to retire the squall its taken a bit of a bashing a few times this year

then i ordered one of these
http://www.pw-rc.com/product_info.ph...p92lcbfercohm0

and one of these
http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...idProduct=8138

on 4s im getting 922watt with 67 amps
on 5s 1438watt and 88amps

my 5s batts have only a 20-30c rating so going to see what happens with them

my only concern is the lack of cooling to the motor as its the same length as the fan motor housing, so its not really going to get any air over to help cool it .

roll on the weekend

Got a Stryker (and a UMX Stryker) and a FW F-16 with VT (and around 20 other models ). But you know what? I still miss my Squall!!!!

Such an awesome airframe and had a great presence.

Got a spare 70mm Wemo/HET setup in my parts bin at the moment........maybe its time for another Squall!!!

That's a bummer.

Best time of the year here for flying (Autumn) but it'll start going downhill in the next month or so.

I think a mate (who has already built two but later sold) is about to commit to a airframe from Efly as well.

Squall Mk2

Well ordered my replacement Squall tonight (my first one flat spinned to death (here) a while ago ).

Anyway this new one is going to have the Morgan RC belly extension and reinforcements (ordered tonight as well).

One of my friends pointed out that with the Morgan RC extended belly; it should be able to penetrate the ground even further when I spin it to death!!!!

Anyway this one's also gonna have a 4S setup with a Wemo Fan and HET 2W20 (to help ground penetration ).

Can't wait to get back into some EDF flat spins and high alphas!!!

Help with launch

Hey guys, need some help. Today had a friend of mine hand launch my Squall. Had about 1/2 throttle. Nice even toss but it pitched straight up. Jumped on the elevator and thought maybe I could fly out of it but even then it pitched up. I have balanced it per instructions. What am I missing? To me it seems tail heavy. I have slight up on the elevons.
