..maybe that should be "urathane" ..as in polyurathane, as in, a clear liquid finish commonly applied to hardwood flooring, to seal and protect...yada yada..!

..anyway when used with a light fine meshed fiberglas cloth this product has the advantages of not overcoming the place with odor, dries within one hour, easy soap and water cleanup, resulting in a strong lightweight finish on foam or balsa....end of story.

Just "Google" polyurethane varnish.

Just ordered my airframe from Hobby People. $80 inc shipping for the airframe and plastic parts.

It will get a 2kw+ minifan, plenty of reinforcement, and a properly designed and ducted intake/exhaust. Should be a little on the fast side.

Mine's getting a 70mm Shubie rotor in a skyworld EDF housing, Prob a Mega motor. Can't make up my mind on 4s, high kv, or 6s, low kv.

Can anyone Please recommend a good battery weight for a standard stock 4 cell Squall.

i Have X2 Zippys 40c 14.8v, 3000mah, weight 355g, im just worried that these will be too heavy?

Cheers for the compliment. I would be tempted but I probably don't have the experience to do this quickly. This took quite a few evenings to do and if I was to do one for someone else it would not be cheap due to the time it takes. I also use Tamiya paint which adds up very quickly.

Cheers for the compliment. If you look back I posted a "how to" rough guide a while ago on this thread. It covers the main bits you need to know. Its just tamiya acrylic paint airbrushed and then lacqured with Pactra acrylic car fuel sealer as lacquer. I now wish I had glassed/lengthened the intake as its starting to show white foam again when it may catch a stone on landing etc...... As for servo's I'm using two CS401 on elevons and a CS302/BB on the rudder for now other reason than I already have them.

I'm flying with and Intellect 4S 2800mAh 25C Li-Po which weighs 294g. 355 is quite heavy. It'll most probably fly fine though, I'ld be tempted to strengthen the nose with that weight but it should work.

do you think i would be ok flying with Zippy 20c 14.8v, 2650mah, 278g in weight? or will the squall just kill these?

Those packs should be capable of 53 amps the squall 3-cell comes with a 40amp esc so they would be unstressed in theory. Most manufacturers lie about C rates but even if they are 15C they are technically ok if your not at full throttle at all time (closer to the limit). Higher C rated packs would be better as then the load on the battery is decreased (and performance increases) but those packs should be plenty capable.

278g weight is fine.

I'm running the Rhino 4s 2350mAh 25C packs with great success, about 4 1/2 min flights and batts are barely warm. I flown it with the Turnigy 4s 2650mAh 30C, flies but the extra weight is noticable. Granted I'm flying a high kv motor either, its not stock either I believe its a 2800kv motor in a 70mm 5 bladed fan. I like the 2350mAh better for my setup.

awood12345's Squall was actually the inspiration for the finish on my plane. I used Createx airbrush paint and simply mixed a grey that I liked. Like all Phase 3 planes with which I have had experience, the fit and finish of the Squall is superb so there is very little or nothing in the way of filling or smoothing prior to painting, simply tape off and paint. This plane took only two coats of paint and another two of water based clear satin polyurethane.

Hi guys well i have balanced the bird using those large batterys, they are basicall near as far back as possabile.

Does anyone know what sort of wattage i should be seeing from the stock setup, my readings are 530W?

A 3s version stock Squall won't do 90+ mph, maybe the 4s version will.

That sounds about right. How many amps are you getting?
