ED- Give me a couple of weeks to get the build up on the Sea Maid 18’. Right now I am getting ready to start packing the California Cracker Box so I am a little busy. Hang in there, it will be the next one on the hit parade.

Ok, I jst read all of the posted replies about the great pictures and how beautiful the boat was. So I went back one page and pulled up the photos and had a look.

"Stunning" is a word that is totally inadquate to describe this model.

Now that we are all but finished with the packaging of the LEGEND Model Boats “ California Cracker Box”, we are now starting the build of the next release, the “1952 CENTURY SEA MAID 18’ Runabout”, so everyone can get a first hand preview of the build. This long time favorite of the classic runabout fans, both full scale and modelers alike, will mark it’s return with today’s technology in the production of the 1/6th scale kit.

Precision laser cutting of the entire kit, using only the finest of woods, and designed from start to finish to produce a museum quality model, FOR RADIO CONTROL. Custom cast and machined deck hardware are faithful reproductions of the full scale counterpart in every detail. Every thing needed to produce this award winning model is in the kit, even the rubber floor mats are included.

As with all the LEGEND Model Boat Kits, the Sea Maid will have included, a full set of custom precision running hardware from M.A.C.K. Products Model Marine.

M.A.C.K. Products will also be manufacturing the optional power package, complete with electronic speed control, to make the model get up and go, in true Century “Thoroughbred “ fashion. M.A.C.K. will also be producing optional lighting and sound packages for the Sea Maid to add even more realism to the finished model.

Prepare a building board using laminated shelving 12” wide X 36” long. Draw a center line down the length of the board, then mark on the center line 1” in of one end of the board and then place a mark every 2” down the rest of the board. Draw perpendicular line to the center line at each of the marks. These lines will be used as reference lines when setting up the frame work for the hull.

The keel and stem post are the first items to be assembled. Both the keel and the stem post are made up from two pieces (left and right side) of laser cut 3/16” thick hard balsa, which have to be glued together to make a 3/8” thick keel and stem post.

Now the stem post is joined to the stem post using medium CA glue. This is done on a flat waxed paper surface to keep the keel and stem post true.

Now with the two (left & right) lite ply wood keel doublers, we layout and mark were the rudder stuffing box and propeller stuffing box cut out are located. These two areas will not have any glue placed on them when we glue the keel doubler to the balsa keel.
