Turnigy BATTERIES

Anyone have any opinions on the Turnigy Lipos available from Hobby King?

I am looking at the 4S 14.8V 2200 packs.

I think that they are too new to have any data. They just came out a few weeks ago. With HC the prices just keep doing down – how low can they go?

On their forum they said that they would have some 30C Turnigy batteries in a while. Apparently that’s going to be a whole new line of batteries. Looks like from the photos that they don’t have connectors but I have not checked all the different sizes.

I don't want their connectors anyway. Clone Deans are not the best...

Prices are all over the place that is why I keep checking... a 4S 2200 14.8 20C on HC is like $20, on NItroplanes...$45.

The larger packs have the new 4mm bullet style connectors, smaller ones should still be JST.

The photo does not show a connector.

Also if you read the description it says you can discharge at 25C and still get 5000 MAH out of the pack. Most tests that I have seen have the capacity drop quite a bit when you discharge them at max C. I would sure like to see someone with a tester do a curve on one of these packs.

With the 2200 4s pack you can’t see the ends of the wires.

Very odd - seems intentionally hidden. As far as 25C cont. on that pack, well I'd offer, but I'm capped around 1kW/300A and that would require 125A cont. (no problem), but at around 1.5kW of discharge power.

My 3s 2200 25C packs should arrive tomorrow. After that perhaps I can come up with an opinion. Unfortunately, they're just too new for anyone to say.

My suspicion is that they're produced at the same factory as the Zippy packs and it's just a different branding.

Can you measure the IR when you get your pack if your charger has that feature?

I was checking out the specs on the smaller lipo's and they seemed a bit heavier than the Rhino's. At least the few I compared did....

The higher the c rating the heavier the battery will be. With H.C. batteries I always go a littel bigger in the C rating and the MHA than what I will be using. This gives me a littel saftey margine so im not stressing them so hard.

I'm happy with my 2200 3s's I got. I didnt like having to put dean's on them (had bullets), sometimes I wish they'd picture the connector.

Just received my 2200 3S 25C's. First impression: they seem a bit heavy. I'll get them on a scale when I get home.

Label on them actually says 25C-30C, so that's more than I was expecting.
I'll have to change the JST-XH to Deans also (it does say the connector on the HC webpage). The wire is quite long too so I think I'll trim that back a bit for weight savings. Pretty heavy gauge wire on there which I'm happy with.

Actual weight is 190g, which is on the heavy side. Not over the top though for a 25-30C battery.

I swapped out the JST's for Deans and trimmed a little wire... still 190g (maybe 189g).
