edf battery that won't break the bank
looking for a edf setup for a 16 to 20 lb. Avro Vulcan. Weight is depending on the size and building technique that I decide on. I could use 4,70mm edf's on the lighter design. But what I'm after is something that does not sound like a very loud mosquito. I've looked at the higher thrust edf's but the battery packs are quite large and rather pricey. At level of expense I would just go with a turbine, which I really don't want to do.

16 to 20 pounds of aircraft isnt going very far on small, cheap batteries or power systems. We must remember that size (and weight) usually dictates the price of equipment these days. Considering you do get some good batteries, then theres the charger, unless you want to fly once every day, or fork out for a second, expensive set of batteries?
If you trim down the size and weight, you can easily trim down your budget.... |

thanks gp125racer that makes the bigger edf's much easier to swallow. Fanman thanks for the input. I already have the support gear for the batteries. Now if I could only figure out how to put a Safe (key word "safe") smoke system in.

The 25/50C XP6500s are a great option at $195 for a 6S pack. More jet flying time and lower cost. http://www.neumotors.com/store/page12/page12.html They are at the bottom of the page. You can draw over 162 amps and stay within the 25C rating. Specs for the entire XP series of batteries can be found here: http://www.neumotors.com/Site/Battery_Specs_XP.html

thanks one and all. the packs would most likely be in to 10s to 12s range, 6500 more than enough. this just lets me know that edf's are not out of the picture.

gp125racer o.k. then no smoke. I'll do the after burner thing as seen on youtube. That ought to start a safety war at my local field. Only kidding I'll stay sane for a while. the plane will be enough of a head turner.

your best bet is Haoye fans from hobbycity they produce the best sound
next to the Stu fan which is the best sounding EDF the Vulcan is kind like a large Wing no need for powerful set ups like sport planes just enough to get to the scale speeds here is a Fantastic Haoye powered Horten |
