Love my Velox, tought me more then any other plane I owned. Ben is right, it is a great 3D teacher...

However, after crashing my blue one at the OH huckfest I don't know if I want to build my NIB Velox (red/yellow). I think I will sit on it for a bit to convince my self that its worth the build, after all I have everything for it...

If I remember, Ben said it was being updated, but wouldn't be available until late winter/early spring....but not absolutely positive.

I certainly think so! A 2:1 thrust to weight ratio works for me!

Flew mine with a DLE-30 right beside one with a DLE-20. His was very capable, but mine was AWESOME!

If you already have a DLE-20, yes, the Velox is a great plane to put it in, but if you already have a Velox and are looking for the best power plant, I've seen both in action and for my money, it's the 30!

I have a 20 on mine. Had the engine and I think this is the best plane for it. However, I have to agree, the 30 or electric would be better. The 20 does fit so well though.

I built a Velox with the DLE-30 for a buddy, it's an amazing engine and absolutely rips the Velox around the field.

But building with the DLE 30 was a little bit tricky. You have to slightly modify the motorbox to fit the standoffs, the spinner gap is huge on the factory standoffs, you have to remove most of the bottom of the cowl, and you may have a difficult time moving enough weight back to CG the plane (I actually had to build a shelf in the turtle deck for the battery to get weight to the rear.) But if you willing to do a little light modification, it's worth it.

As far as the 20, I'm sure it would still work great with plenty of excess power, and it may be easier to mount and balance than the 30.

Well, I finally flew my Velox this weekend. It feels big and floaty compared to my smaller EF Extra.

My father was in town visiting and came with me to the field this weekend. He said I needed a pilot for the plane. I never thought of adding one and I don't think I've seen a picture of a Velox with a pilot. If I wanted to add one what scale would I look for? Has anyone ever put a pilot in one of these? Thanks

I would start by looking at a 25% one, the plane is roughly a 1/4 scale plane. I think it is actually about 23%, but pretty close. The full scale one has a 7.47 meter wingspan, or 294 inches. 68 inches is right at 23% of that, so close to 1/4 scale.
Full scale one:
