Sapac L-39 EDF with JS1400

This was the maiden and is just a short clip of the handlaunch with a few passes.

Being the maiden I didnt really try to push it , yet it was faster than anything I have flown so far.

No radar gun but I feel like this could hit 140mph regularly once I get used to it and get the control throws where they should be.

Aileron control was a little twitchy. I have too much throw and I'm using HXT 900's. I will change out the aileron servos to mini digital MG's before flying again.

Wow

Do you need additional parts to mount that motor in the sapac fan?

I have some 5s3700's that i would prefer using over 4s4000

I'm sorry, I forgot to mention I was using an HET 6904 fan.
The JS1400 mounts in the 6904 fan though with no modification at all.

Wow, nice vid. Jim.

Crap I have the exact same servos for mine. What's wrong with the HXT 900's? Are you using the reccomended throws?

I was there with him. Actually I'm the one who shot with his camera... That's why the vid isn't as good as his usual. Anyway, the aileron servos were stuttering a bit before centering. They did it worse went thrown to the farthest point. At the speed it's going, I would say that is too much stress for them.

I use those servos a lot also. I have some in a HET F-20 for ailerons and have been in there for about 2 years now, with no problems. The F20 is not near as fast as this plane though. If I were to change motors in the F-20, I'd change the aileron servos as well.

If you set yours up on a slower power setup, then you may be ok.

Another great vid. That plane hauls! I imagine you could slide that one off its belly with no problem if you didn't have someone along to hand launch for you.

How many watts and what RPM are you getting with that set-up?

You are my idol!! I've been trying to tell people that the JS in either the 6904 or Wemo is just stupid on 5S I think you will go beyond 150 once you get used to it.

Steve,
He is getting right near 60,000 rpm's and about 2000 watts

In my Boogie Hawk I am using a CCHV-110, Wemo Mini Pro, XPS 5S 3200, I am getting 106 amps at 21.6v, and 2280 watts Thrust is at or over 5lbs. With him using the HET 6904 I would bet he is around 112 amps. These batteries are amazing! In my Hawk I have so much thrust I plan to use 2S2P 5S 3200's so I can have longer flight times. The plane is large enough to carry it easily. On a single 5S 3200 I get about 4 minutes with occasional bursts of WOT cause you just don't need it.

Also Brian those were MAX readings on first throttle up not "settled" readings.

I use the JS1400 on 4s in the HET F-20 and I remember you suggested I go to 5s. I didn't go 5s in the F-20 because the ESC I was using probably wouldn't handle 5 cells at those amps.

On the Sapac L-39 I did spring for the better ESC and went 5s and glad I did.
Power is incredible! This jet will really move at even less than half throttle!!!!
In fact at just under half throttle it is still faster than most anything in my fleet.

As you said, I do believe over 140 is a possibility.
I haven't flown any thing this fast before and will take some practice to keep control surface movement to a minimum to reduce drag and reach top speed.
