Had a plaque in the bridge wings on my first ship in the navy (about 35 feet above the waterline) which said; there are four types of waves, white water (just the spray from the wave breaking over the bow), green water (where the sun through it turns the wave green as it comes over the bow), black water (where you CANNOT see sunlight through it and it looks black), and OH GOD (or OH SH#T depending on your language tolerance), where you just hope it comes back up!!
