Ran it through a translator- was just a test platform:

Tests of 305-mm ДРП for a destroyer ' Engels ' in 30th years. At weight of installation 8-10 т. Range of shooting of 250-330 kg shells should make not less than 13 km. Tests in September, 1934 were spent with the purpose of check of an opportunity of installation ДРП of such calibre by the ships. By results of tests per 1936-37 during capital repairs of a destroyer ' Charles Marx ' works on arms were conducted by its similar coupled installation. Works are interrupted in connection with arrest Курчевского.

Not to hijack the thread, but it reminded me of the "Get Smart" episode where Max had to go to an Indian reservation to investigate rumors of a weapon of mass destruction. He found a huge teepee concealing a huge bow and arrow.

The guy on the rifle is the SEAL solution at its finest. One shot (about $10), takes care of one hostage taker and pirate of a multimillion dollar ship. A when Jack Sparrow wannabe see his friend disappear at five times the effective range of his own weapons he will have a sudden ah-ha moment and realize his career path was not the wisest one.

I suspect he looked like the kid from home alone and became very quiet.

As far as the 10$ per round all I can say is freedom from tyranny “priceless”

Saw a blurp on Military channel or history channel that there is new show coming about these types of events...a recreation of the infamous Adobe Wells Sharps rifle shot, the sniper vs sniper deal in Stalingrad etc...

1580 yards is a mile 2500 is very normal for a man sized target for a .50 BMG type rifle. The flight time for a 50 at beyond that range starts to get into the ESP area of accuracy since you are talking flight times of over 15 seconds!
Carlos Hathcock (Marine sniper with the highest number of confirmed kills in Viet Nam) won the Wimbleton cup (not the tennis matches) for rifles with a 5 round group inside of an inch diameter bullsye at 1,000 yards......with a 7.62 rifle (NATO .308)!
My godson is a Marine scout/sniper and told me they had a variety of scoped rifles with accuracy from 500 out to basically as far as you could see. He told me that they took a Mahdi Army shooter out at over 1,000 with a 7.62 and hit someone in the head with a .50 at a dead run away from the first hit five seconds later. (at that range a .50 will go through an engine block so I do not want to see the results of that hit)
