Great link man, I have a few books with some Stanger pictures in it but it is the first time I have seen such a clear picture of that V-twin , this must mean that the engine is a surviver in someone's collection, clearly a picture taken with some more modern camera. Even Miguel de Rancougne did not know where that engine has landed ! This is Van Gogh kind of territory. I guess it is Russian language, ,I do speak English French Dutch German a a little Italian but alas no Russian.

That is a fantastic website! I haven't gone through much of it yet but so far, I find myself with a strong attraction to this Magnum .91 or whatever it really is. That's a pretty cool idea to use the casting form something readily available and them make everything else to come up with a work of art like this.

Oh BTW, it's Greek and not Russian. I found that out when I tried to translate one of the pages with Babel Fish, which works pretty good, BTW.

Saw this one in Model Engine Gallery, the original cast one was on sale at ebay recently, was bidding on it but forgot to put a final bid on it.

Can some one I.D. the diesel in post#1509? I hope it doesn't remain a mystery motor .

Hi !

the unknown engine is for sure a F2d engine. They needed the split exhaust, becaus the hot gas would burn the leading edge of the wing. Looks like a Prototype diesel version of this engine :

Screw in backplate and ports look the same, intake and cooling fins are different. Exhaust is machined off at your engine. I`ve seen that on older F2D engines of this type, saved weight.

Here is another early v-twin, as published in a book of 1934.

Any idea what it could be....?

(Clue: Most of the contents of the book is based on older, British material...)

Thanks for your help Sebastian . The motors do seem to have simular features . I thought it might be a team race motor (F2C) with the fins and exhaust cut down . Wish I could pin this motors i.d , I think it is Russian .
