Finally got a chance to fly my AMD/JHH Bae hawk conversion today. In a word....Awesome. This thing flies like its on rails and accelerates in the vertical. it is a bit faster than i thought it would be. It weighs 13lbs12oz. has a fully enclosed intake thanks to a buddy who came through big time! It is probably the quietest edf I have heard to date. It wasnt the smoothest landing because the recommended flap throw is very minimal...it wouldnt slow down. no numbers or video yet....maybe tomorrow.

the stock intake ducting was there...but he made the adapter and extension.

That brings back some memories at 13.5Lbs its almost the same weight as my original, although that had only 2,800 watts and 10s on a TF4000 + pleti.

A chap from SA was asking about the best conversion for an AMD Hawk, I think this is it or an e-turbax. Where is the flight pack?

I put another flight on it today...dont beat me, no video or numbers...i was too involved in having some fun!

it flew incredibly well! and this time the landing was cake with much more flap dialed in. hopefully the others that saw it fly will chime in later. i promise video and numbers at some point.

Wow Kevin, you really did have to move that fan backwards!

The hatch has little NACA ducts (if you cut them out). You could use one (or both) to cool the HV110. You would need an exit for the incoming air, maybe around the tail cone?

Looking forward to your numbers. You will see some improvements in performance after 5 full cycles on those batteries.

i moved the fan back and still had to add 4.5oz of weight to the tail.

the ducts on the hatch are already cut out for the controller....

for the battery cooling... there is a hole in the intake left over from the glow fan for the starter wand. when the fan is running it pulls air from the front wheel well to the hole in the intake.

the batts have 4 cycles on them... they came out of the plane yesterday at 135.8 degrees (it was a hot day). I will add naca ducts right in front of the battery tray later.

this looks like mine, although i picked mine up used from rcu. it came with a turbax and os 46 ...the turbax and os are for sale by the way

yeah that's the same planes. I picked mine up from ebay, few guys pop in and out of there alot selling them for about 200 to 250 bucks.

I suppose this $220 one is the same one ? The wings are balsa built up covered with polyester foil?

Barry did you get yours to fly with the WeMoTec Midi ? It looks like a big and perhaps a bit draggy airframe for the Midi.

Got to watch Kevin fly the heck out of the Hawk yesterday. I never thought he'd get that big bulbous fused jet to move quickly as it is a little draggy. Such is scale stuff. Was major suprised! It was very fast and accelerated extremely quick. I thought really really fast for that airframe. Seemed to be good match for lipos, esc, motor and fan as he did countless fast passes w/ big pulls into vertical yet the lipos would not light a cigarette once pulled from the plane! Seriously though, they were toasty but not in the range of harming pack life and he flew it HARD I thought.
