Open source OSD for FPV

I would like to have full control on the OSD I use and therefore would like to start off with an open source OSD right from the beginning for my FPV projects. The schematics and the source code should be available.

What open source OSD projects exists?
Anybody with experience (good or bad) with any open source OSD projects for FPV.

Please send links to any info you might have.

I too would be interested in an open source OSD - I am actually beginning to plan a open source R/C link for use with FPV, and would like to be able to link the RX into an OSD - but that is not easily possible with closed systems like eagle-tree..

Are there options out there?

Not completely open, but open enough, and already embeding a tremendous quantity of experience is remzibi OSD.
Have a look and you don't regret.
Also, in this moment this OSD is "engaged" with the completely open source autopilot Ardu, the result of this marriage being the only OSD on the market with such features at a price under $200.
Believe me, your time price can't be so cheap to equal such value you can get for so less.

Where do you get it? I can't find any links, but did see video (it looks pretty nice).

no, because i think i will modify the layout to modify some things

The best think you can do is to get some free sample of the max7456 on maxim-ic.com

i will post news of the project on rcgroups

Hi.

Sparkfun has now released a MAX7456 breakout board. This will facilitate experimentation. However I have ordered some samples from Maxim as well.

If remzimbi would release the source on his OSD ("poor mans osd"), this would be a great point to start to contribute. I have several ideas that I would like to work on and contribute: glideslope detection and reporting on FPV landings via OSD so that it is possible to approach with low visibility during night landings, RSSI warning levels, zone detection (plane within landing distance, plane within battery capacity for returning distance, plane outside safe returning range, waypoints etc).

I saw some mentioning about video overlay code on the arduino forum as well www.arduino.cc

Send over more links to open OSD projects if you have any!
