Drop a parachute onto a camera?

So my in-laws found my G.I. Joe parachute I lost the first time I dropped it. I looked for hours. Ended up that it was in the corn field (how did I miss it?!) Unfortunately it had been plowed over. But all that happened was the loss of his head, arms and legs. Parachute was undamaged! So I duct taped some marbles for weight to his torso and voila!

Now what to do with it? Not too windy today....wonder if I can put the camera on the ground and drop my parachute onto it?

Enjoy, share...

Okay here are a few pics of the Assasin I finished up today. And some video of the Maiden which didn't go as well as I was hoping it would.

Assasin 6-8-2010 (2 min 48 sec)

Any ideas what the issue is let me know please. Going to try a little weight on the nose tomorrow.

it seemed to fly good right off but hard banking sends it into a spiral. How much throw is on your elevons. It looks like mine did when i first set it up. Too much throw will send it into a spin.

Not very much actually. I should have trimmed the leading adge of the elevons some not angled enough for good down elevon movement. But, I didn't notice it until they were covered and attached. I may have to remove them, trim and reattach.
I'm not sure what the issue is at the moment, I have built probably 20 or 30 wings over the last 2 years mostly out of blucor, and have never had the issues I've run into with both of the Assasins I've built. I'm sure its not anything with the design as there are too many of them out there flying great, it has to be something I'm doing.
The first one used the Emax 2812, this one I am powering with an Eflite park 370 which is 2 grams heavier. But it too flies, and balances like it is tail heavy so I am not understanding something here.
I'm gonna work on it some more today and will post video later.

With my experience with wings is if you have to much throw it will
Go in to a spiral. Try reducing the throws a little at a time until it stops
going in to the spirals. I hope that helps you out.

This plane has huge elevons. Sukwee is right that too much throw will make the plane spiral. The reason for the big elevons is to help with the reflux of the wing and to make the EPP elevons strong enough for flight. The video looked either like a little tail heavy or too much movement in the elevons. The plane looks like it glides really well. It just needs a little trimming.

The new tapered elevons are more sensitive and need less throw but the really fly well.

Cut the throws down some and it flies pretty good didn't get any video gonna try in a little bit to get in another flight or 2 after I get finished working on a weedeater. Here is the video from this evening, it is closer to controllable. cut the throws down and added 21grams of lead to the battery. Still not quite sure what the issue is altogether, will try and work on it some more this week.
I thought about this post as soon as I awakened this morning and realized I had forgotten the link to the video so here she is.

Data is in the picture comments.

The wing loading comes out around 4oz/sq ft. I think Lee said early on in this thread, words to the effect, that the Assassin should also be built light for best results. Though my intent is more "Ultra-light".

Wt 410g 14.46oz
Area 515sq in 3.576sq ft
Loading 4.04oz/sq ft

This is a radical departure from the indestructible combat approach Lee took but it uses much of his finless development combined with a constant chord for more area and simple build to come up with a relaxed, low-drag sport plane with a bit of spunk. It's kind of a sedate, non aggressive and fun "Sister-Ship".

What is the recommended control throws for the Assassin with the tapered elevons? I think I saw in one of the videos that the elevon should be even with the bottom of the wing as it's neutral setting. I set it like that and it sure looks like it needs some "up" or it will end up in a quick dive. Got my wing just about ready to fly but haven't had time to get to the field yet.
