Seems like everything is thrust vs. drag and weight vs. strength but COG is king. Lee’s design sets this up perfectly. I wanted to use new gutsy 1800 mAh batteries so I figured since others have added weight to the nose I would add chemical electricity instead, 3 ˝ inches back. COG is about 1/8 inch ahead of the spar. Test glides slightly nose heavy. Maiden will tell (maybe tomorrow if the weather cooperates).

CaribbeanBlue’s horn idea is great but I went with a super permanent approach that added only 1.5 grams (see pix below). I’m also going to change to carbon push rods. As you can see I custom mounted the power and electronic components. I used a soldering iron to hog out the EPP and shimmed the servos with small pieces of EPP scrap stuffed into the openings and hot glued them in (highly recommended). They are solid as a rock.

Late afternoon flight today, decided to record some of it.

Bad launch, forgot to give it some up elevator, but it still went off. There was some wind so I wanted to practice my landings for the first battery - this is my first go.

Much better launch with a click of up trim. Nice 5ft bounce off the ground at the end, but didn't hurt anything. Thought the dive speed would be enough to pull out.

Yes, I know. I have two Assassins and already built a few more before. The video was funny!

I lost the Widowmaker in the sun for a sec on a high speed turn. A lot can happen in a sec. lol... Back in view just in time to see it hit nose first at almost wot. No damage to the plane. Battery puffed big time, trashed a servo, and reciever no worky. I think the xtal is trashed (I have 72mhz stuff.) The very tip of the nose seemed a little soft but sitting overnight and it's like new. So now I get metal gear servos. Headsuprc has 12g Emax metal gear servos they say compares to Hitec HS65HB. Any of you guys try those? I'm thinking 9g servos won't cut it.

I went with the TowerPro MG90s.
