I sprayed 3M 90 to "seal" the epp then used Walmart acrylic paint before laminating it. Added nearly no weight. Kept it to light thin coats. Sprayed it with an $8 spray gun from harbor freight.

I tried Krylon Fusion on the bottom of my first wing (applied to the surface of the laminate) - I dont recomend it.

It scratches and looks like poo after just a few flights.

Will the laminate adhere / be able to be ironed on to Krylon Fusion painted foam?

Sounds like a great bet: If anyone can burn out a 9 turn MD hi temp rewind, I'll send them a stock one. Go for it! I have over 700 flights on a single rewind (same bearings too) and have tried my best to abuse it.

Mine do get quite hot but I suspect that the MD hi temp rated wire is what makes this such a successful option. Get out there and feel the difference.

Hey- you guys that run the rewinds, some have said the their motors do get quite hot. Do you do a cool down between flights or do you just go for it?

The laminate should stick better to painted foam as compared to bare foam, I know this is the case when laminating epoxy/fiberglass to foam.

If your painting the foam, spray it with 3M77 (or 3M90 as Ogrestud suggested) before painting - the glue will help seal the foam and make your image brighter.

Never done it myself, but I know previous discussion has stated the opposite--lots of people with lam peeling off their fainted foam.

I think a few people have figured out a combination of paint brands, drying time, etc. to make it work, (you'd have to wait for one of them to chime in), but the general consensus is it's a lot of work to go through, when you could just laminate and use stick-on color sheets or tape afterwards, and avoid potential problems. So unless you're really set on a painted color scheme...

A lot of people have done pretty well drawing designs on the stick-on color sheets, then cutting them out and putting them on. A few have even designed things on their computer and printed it on special paper, then just peel off and stick. Even that sounds easier to me than the paint.

even a graphic printed on white paper and stuck to the foam with a spray adhesive works pretty well. Looks nice with the laminate over top.

Bumper Stickers

I applied the bumper stickers prior to laminating. Worked like a charm!
