Thanks for any suggestions.

Vertical is totally thrust vs weight. I have some planes that will do unlimited vertical and others that won't. It has very little to do with the design of the wing. Even the condition of the prop and size of battery will make a difference in the climb rate.

Yaw is affected by how sharp the corners are in the angles you cut in the front of the tips. If the corners are rounded the effect they create is reduced.

Adding fins will stop the yaw but I have all of my Assassins flying well without fins. Other things that affect yaw are too much throw in the elevons, CG too far back, plane too heavy, to slow of flying speed.

With the suggested CF2812 and a 7x6, you should have unlimited vertical. They aren't extremely fast going vertical, but it is still unlimited.

As Lee said, the yaw can be partially attributed to the finless design. Assassins really like to fly at speed, when you slow them down they do have a tendency to waggle a bit, but it is very predictable and easily corrected with your left stick.

Whose left stick? Did you put a rudder on yours? Do you fly Mode 1?

I was very much confused by it's terrible lack of vertical. I hope resetting the throttle travel resolves the issue. Mine is all stock using 1300mah batteries and it shouldn't be overly heavy. Hope to try it again soon.

I am enjoying so much this Assassin! To prove that, here some pictures showing what I am doing: another one! I bought a lot of colored tapes that leave me confused about the design of the new one. How to cover it? What draw, colors? I was thinking about blue dark down and yellow on top. Ill decide it this week

new Assassin on the way. set-up advice needed ...

Hi guys,
ordered the Assassin and I have a set-up I'd like you guys to comment on.
it's a first wing for my son and I. we will be flying it calm and light at first and do basic acrobatics, with fins on and later we will probably advance in our control of it and start to run it all over the place ...

first, BIG Thanks to Lee !!!
I've been on the mail with him the last few days. great guy.

so, the set-up I have in mind (all HK) :
motor :
FC 28-12 Brushless Outrunner 1534kv
http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...idProduct=5423

prop:
TGS Sport 7x6E Precision propeller
http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...idProduct=7942

or:
APC style propeller 7x6-E
http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...idProduct=5436

battery (I want a light wing as possible) :
Turnigy nano-tech 1000mAh 3S 45~90C Lipo Pack
http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...dProduct=18205
I have some 1600mAh of the same model.
what is the battery weight that puts CG spot on ?

ESC:
TURNIGY Plush 30amp Speed Controller
http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...idProduct=2164

servos:
Turnigy TGY-9025MG Metal Gear Servo 1.8kg/11g/0.09
http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...dProduct=17321

please let me know what you think.
thaks,

thaks,
I find the TGS props a bit heavy for this application ...... I would go for the APC style ......

Get a programming card for the Tgy Plush esc ..... set brake on ...cut off voltage high ... and timeing medium or high ......

I would go with the 1300 lipos (as high a C rating as you can afford) ......

I fit a prop saver adapter when using the 28-12 motors .....

thaks,
1600's are perfectly fine. You will be able to get nearly 6-7 minutes of wide open throttle and close to 10 with mixed flying on the CF2812. There are guys that fly 2200's in my combat group with no issues, they can stay up for 10-12 minutes at a time with heavy throttle.

Balance is not an issue, the Assassin has plenty of room to adjust your components around and find your CG.

This is an amazing flying wing! But you have to fly it fast. It just need it

Assassin combat flying wing (1 min 21 sec)

See in the video in when it reaches 1 minute, when I go vertically to the sky, also 1:44m

And Im enjoying it so much

You mean pre-build? You just can't find the shock cord to put into it?

Just get a length of nylon string from Home Depot or your junk drawer. Most people seem to have nylon string around and can never remember why they got it in the first place

Remember, there's no set location for the battery. Just follow the pdf instructions on the website, and you'll see that once you get to the point of digging in your electronics, you first have to arrange and shift them on the surface to attain the proper CG.

Therefore, you could probably use any battery between 1000 and 2200 mAh, and still get the right CG, you'd just have to shift things forward or backward. Like I said, just follow the pdf instructions. Good luck!

Thanks guys,
I'll stay with the 1000mAh for lower AUW.
A question about glue :
I don't like low temp hot glue because it tends to loosen when temp is high. And it's very high here.
will CA do the job ? What about UHU ?

Try Welders; works great.
