Best servos for the Sig Rascal?

Hey everyone!

HAd my dad pick up the Rascal ARF in violet the other day so hed have something sweet to fly at the schoolyard. Plus it means I get to build and test it =0)

My question is, what servos are best suited? They suggest Hitec HS55s...that just seems too small to me! BUT, going to HS 81s means I have to cut the openings out and add almost 3/5 ounces of weight and hassle. Ive got a pair of JR 241s....same weight and size as the 55s, but a little more torque. Is 17 ounces of torque enough for this plane when itll be flown at times looping and rolling? Ive actually got a pair of CS21s I could go with too....whatcha guys think? JR 241s, Cirrus CS-21BBs or Hitec HS-81s?

Thanks guys!

Jason

I'm putting HS55s in mine, but I haven't finished or flown it yet. The HS55s are plenty strong for the X-250 - they should be fine in the Rascal. My only reservation is the tail wheel/skid, but we'll see.

If I were you, I'd go with the JR 241s - 17 oz should be more than enough and the Rascal begs to be kept light.

Jason, the 241's are the best sub micros that I've found. Would you believe that I'm using two for ailerons on my Fun 700 10 cell Endo powered plane? The reason that I'm not using all 241's is that the tail wheel is steerable and attached to the rudder and the weight and the rough field that I fly from may strip the gears. On the Rascal, you don't have to worry, just go ahead and enjoy.

I fly my Rascal with HS-55's and they have enough power for this model. Mine weighs 25 oz. with a Speed 400 6 volt, a 2:1 gear box and an APC 9 x 6 (electric prop), on 7 cells.

The 55's will work great. You don't need anything bigger on that plane. Rudder/Elevator torque requirements on a Rascal are very small even for loops and rudder rolls.

Welcome to the Ezone Rick! Those servos should be fine. I use smaller ones than that it my 93 MPH pylon racer without any problems.
