In the video I used Gorilla Glue to apply fiberglass in a vacuum bag, which works great I might add.

I had talked about the possibility of painting the mylars prior to bagging to see if the paint would transfer to the layup but I was unable to test it due to the cold Montana weather, as I have no place warm to paint.

Even though it snowed a week ago Monday I've had some warm weather and was able to run a test piece and the results were very good using Krylon rattle can spray paint.

I'm working on a DLG polyhedral Gorilla Glue wing with fiberglass and instead of using mylars I'm going to wax and paint "Freezer Paper" and I'll post the results, hopefully before next week.

Thanks Roel,

I appreciate the comments. The "Testimonials" have been better than I hoped. I'm really glad the video is helping folks get started in cutting and vacuum bagging. It's easier to do than what you would think.

This photo shows the freezer paper which I waxed with two coats using a Caranuba based waxed, polished then sprayed with Krylon rattle can spray paint. I didn't mask it as I liked the feathered line.

This is a polyhedral wing with 1.4 ounce fiberglass with .06" round Carbon Fiber rods as spars. The glass is applied with Gorilla Glue.

The entire process is shown in the video except for the painting, which I'm showing here.

It's in the vacuum bag and I should have some results later today or tomorrow.

Here is what the wing looks like after 4.5 hours in the vacuum bag.

As you can see the paint transferred beautifully!

I've never understood why you paint the mylars & transfer it to the wing during vacuum bagging as opposed to just painting the wing after it's done.

Care to elaborate?

Thanks!

Oh sure.

Mainly less paint which equates to less weight.

Plus it's very professional as you have no paint lines from masking, all color changes will be smooth as the original surface.

I guess that's all that comes to mind right now.

Have you tried it? If so what didn't you like about it?

Thanks
