Spidious, how did you find that tiny window setting to enable the autorotate bailout feature??. I dont know where to start and I sure would like to be able to prove it works on the bench

My Gov mode is working great! I love it

Need Help with selecting the right PWM rate

I have a CC 85HV and I tried to set the PWM rate to outrunner, but its not one of he choices. Thought I bought it after the noted date, but I guess not, as per the Castle information:

"Added outrunner PWM rate option to improve efficiency and reduce harmonics when running fast commutation outrunners. Unfortunately this mode is only available on Phoenix ICE and Phoenix HV controllers manufactured after May 2007."

So, given the PWM choices available, since I have an outrunner, what PWM rate should I choose? I'm considering the highest available...

Motor is a Thunder Tiger OBL 49/08 (780 or 800 KV).

The ESC seems to run very cool, but the motor runs rather hot. Application is a Swift w/ 10S A123.

Running the new gov mode in RPM mode and gov works well, before updating the firmware, in heli fixed end point mode the motor was hot as well.

Your ESC has a small, round, white sticker w/ the mfg. date on it.

I wouldnt set the PWM rate as high as it will go. Start at 8 and move up 1 setting if you feel the need. It should run cooler unless something is in a bind.

For outrunners use I PWM = 8 if outrunner is not on the menu. It works for Scorpion and Z-Power (Z-Power is the actual manufacture of most TT and Century outrunner motors).

For most outrunners I also run a timing setting of between 0 and 2. Any higher makes some motors run hot but I have some that are happy at 5. I would say to start at 2 and adjust from there.

RC Man, good info how did you come to this conclusion, PWM = 8 if outrunner is not on the menu?

Thank you

Trial and error. You are not going to hurt anything by trying different settings. The only time I have a problem was by running too much timing on a large outrunner causing it to loose sync and stripping the gears.

I don’t want to speak for CC so you may want to contact CC Tech support and see what they say.

I did talk to CC Tech support and they did state, that the "Out Runner Mode (which I do not have), starts out at 8, then when it senses a fixed RPM, it goes into a Variable rate which best fits the motor".

Thanks again

Anyone with Airplane setup on CC 85HV ??

I looked through all 5 pages. Everyone had heli setting.

I am using the setup with E-Flite Power 110, 2x 4S5000mAh TP Extreme (V1 & V2).

Been working on the setting since last Friday, but still can't get the Solid LED at full throttle. During the setting, I have beep when the ATV reaches the top and bottom ends, but no LED or anything indicating the Full throttle.
leaving the stick at full throttle position for more than 30 seconds still doesn't change anything (motor running or not).

new CC software solve tail oscillation.

Hi folks. Just to share with you guys. The New Software has solve my tail from oscillating. RPM sound smoother and consistant. Tail holds great. Apparently, i just need to set my governor gain at 10 on set rpm governor mode. (Previously governor gain at 2 on governor mode high). Here's the setup for my CC85HV.

Well not sure what happened. I put in the below settings and the tail twitch was totally gone. Was flying it around and about 20' up all power was lost ? Auto down, lipo popped out (undamaged !) dingled tail boom and pulled threads on one link.
But the main problem was that the controller was smoking hot and the motor also. I had hit the hold switch as soon as I saw it lost power. But when I got up to the copter the controller was still smoking and then it made a Pifft sound and shot out smoke !
Strange that I have been flying for almost a year with it and had no problems till now. Was running a "Z" 800 motor, 6S lipo, 12t pinion and 60cc esc. I use to run a 10t pinion but was suggested by CC that in order to get the governor to work correct the gearing might have to be changed. Which I did and the settings looked OK on the screen.
I sent it back to CC for repairs/warranty ? And will see what they say. In the mean time I will be going back to a 10t pinion, since I ever had any problems running with it, and the motor was always cool after flights..

Glad to hear the new firmware helps governor mode. I had major issues with the last firmware on my 8S Trex 600 and sold it to get the Kontronik Jazz-55 which worked great. Next time I need a ESC again I'll try out the new firmware!

I never got a response from anyone at Castle for my questions above, either here, or by emailing Castle directly. I'm beginning to to really wonder what's up... Where is one recommended to go for timely answers to simple questions?

I have CastleLink version 3.12.

When I download and run the 3.13 install, i complains about not finding an ".msi" file then says that it can't remove the existing version.

Any help would be appreciated
