The new software does not actually restrict you from setting a higher headspeed it just suggests that it might not be the best. You can set 2650 anyway with the 13t pinion. Do some max collective climbouts, if the LED comes on solid them you running at 100% and not governing the headspeed. If the LED flickers but is not solid on than you are good to go. I do that kind of testing early in the morning or late in the evening so it’s easier to see the LED.

Oh nice...I got my 12t pinion today and can set mine up for 1650-1700-1750 rpm range now ! Tomorrow it shouldn't be windy so I can actually test it out !

Scorpion 4035/500
12T pinion
headspeed 2100
flight time 6 mins

It works flawlessly

I finally bought a HV110 now that Castle got the gov ironed out. I will be testing it on my Logo 500 next week.

I've got a Protos and a 85HV on 6S. This weekend I decided to give the new governor a try and I used the set rpm mode. Set up was super easy, and the rpm was pretty much dead on verified with an optical tach. No more running back and forth to tach the HS and changing the throttle curve. But I've got a question on the gain. If I do a quick pitch pump then return to hover stick position, I can hear the HS surge a little. Initially I had the gain set to 15, so I thought maybe I need to bump it up to 25 thinking it's too slow to respond. But at 25, it seems to be doing the same thing. Should keep increasing the gain or should I lower it? I can't tell if it's "lagging" or "oscillating" like the tips are suggesting.

Main gear 93T, running 16T pinion and set for 2700rpm. Scorpion 880kv motor.

The way that I set it up is to keep increasing the gain until I hear it oscillating in forward flight then back it off a little. It’s similar to the procedure that you use setting gyro gain.

If you look at how a governor works it has to detect a slight under speed to increase and a slight over speed to decrease power. You are always going to have a little surging with pitch pumps but more gain will help.

I'm running a HK4025-740kV with HV85 on 12s A123 in my Logo 600 VBar with outrunner timing and gov mode with great success! Two thumbs up for CC

Has anyone tested the new governor with a 700-720 size helicopter?

So what does oscillation sound like? I did hear an oscillatin, but I wasn't sure if that's the tail or the main rotor. If I just go full positive from the ground, I can hear a quick oscillation at maybe 4hz. I figure the HS can't change that fast, so I thought that's from the tail. You think that could be the gov. gain too high?

On my helicopter I can hear a chirping noise from the gears during a fly-by. I have found that it helps to turn down the tail gyro gain so that will not cause an oscillation. After the governor gain is set then you can gradually turn up the gyro gain.

Good ideas, I will give these a try. Thanks.
