Good: Yet another State entering States rights showdown

Montana is going to refuse to follow federal firearm regulations on guns made, sold, and staying in Montana.

'Made in Montana'
Under the new law, guns intended only for Montana would be stamped "Made in Montana." The drafters of the law hope to set off a legal battle with a simple Montana-made youth-model single-shot, bolt-action .22 rifle. They plan to find a "squeaky clean" Montanan who wants to send a note to the ATF threatening to build and sell about 20 such rifles without federal dealership licensing.

If the ATF tells them it's illegal, they will sue and take the case all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court, if they can.

Similar measures have also been introduced in Texas and Alaska.

"I think states have got to stand up or else most of their rights are going to be buffaloed by the administration and by Congress," said Texas state Rep. Leo Berman.

Critics say exempting guns from federal laws anywhere would undermine efforts to stem gun violence everywhere.

"Guns cross state lines and they do so constantly, and this is a Sagebrush Rebellion-type effort to light some sort of fire and get something going that's pleasing to the gun nuts and that has very little actual sense," said Peter Hamm, communications director for the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence.
It makes perfect sense, Pete Hamm. The federal govt is the result of the States, not the other way around. This is an ideal issue with which to put the heat on. If you like, get other states to prosecute folks moving Montanta guns out of Montana.

Brilliant. Create a dispute with your realtor, then agree to have the dispute settled by a board of realtors.

The USSC has long since decided the supremecy of the Federal Goverment over the States. The US stopped being a federation of independent states the moment the civil war was decided.

I've told my wife and kids for years that some day this war between progressive socialist and traditional Americans would reach a point where everyone would be engaged, either on one side or the other.

It used to be that extremes were far left or far right, and in between were non committed fence sitters just living their lives one day at a time.
The luxury of being a uninrolled American is past, people are being forced every day at a rapid rate to pick a side, as the issues impact on them personally.

I see these moves by the states as reasserting thier ligitimate Constitutional powers, taking back America, one issue at a time.

your points are extremely valid. If not for the use of aggression by the left, these divisions would not exist. Who creates 'divisiveness'? Those initiating aggression do.

This sounds like a quick way to find yourself in a federal prison.

of course it does. We know about the overriding will to power of this entity.

So did the founders.
