4CH Sub Micro Coaxial: Converting a 3CH to 4CH

To make a 3CH Coaxial helicopter 4CH, simply add another small upright rotor on the aileron axis;

Obviously, the added rotor needs to be counter-balanced and this was done using the lipo battery. The idea here is to use any 'existing' component as a balancer such that only a minimal weight is added for the aileron channel;

view of the aileron rotor;

and the counter balance lipo;

* Test flight video to follow....

Cool experiment! Did you add the 4th channel to the existing system? Or did you replace the 3-channel electronics with 4-channel?

electronics was replaced with a walkera 4#3 2.4ghz 4-in-1. This allowed me to accomodate a 4th channel plus a gyro for the yaw channel.

How about moving both fan booms around to the back with 120degree separation?

You would need to do some mixing to translate your elevator and aileron control into cumulative and differential thrust from those fans, but then I reckon you'd also have better symmetry with the cyclic pitch control. A kind of quasi-tricopter if you will.

Just an idea.
