Flightmax 3s 25c 2200mah vs Zippy R 3s 20c 2300mah................

For those interested and who have not bought these batteries and are interested in size difference, here are pictures with both batteries side by side. the Zippy R is quite a bit bigger than the Flightmax pack.

It looks like the R's have spacers that make them fatter?

Yes they do and believe it or not, they claim the Zippy R is heavier than the Flight max pack. But to me, the flightmax seems to be heavier.

Oh! Well that's a good sign. I saw the R's were bigger and heavier and I was beginning to regret my decision to buy some.

FWIW, my FlightMax 2200 25C packs came in around 171g +- 2g, which was just what I needed for balancing my Trex 450. Performance is good so far, but I don't have a lot of cycles on them yet.

I got the flightmax2200 25C and 20C versions and I really can't tell that much difference in how they perform on my exi450. Fit great and just sligtly warm after a 5minute flight of light 3D. But I orded more of the 25C and plan on using them for the heli's and the two 20C's for parkflyer airplanes.

Mike -- Thanks for starting this thread.. Do you believe it should be moved to the batteries forum. I would like this thread to continue with everyones feedback. I will be testing these out on my 450 and my extreme flight yak pending good weather.

How many cycles of break in are you guys doing ?
Are you doing the basic break in 1/2 the Rated C continuous Rating for about 3 minutes and then recharge at 1C...

2200 mAh Discharge between 8.8A and 15.4A to 3.0 volts per cell

Not Spacers, but internal venting for the cells.

internal venting? What is that? Hard to vent when they're wrapped in shrinkwrap.

I will try to get you an answer again. I asked in a tech forum, I was told each cell is separately vented to carry the heat out. Who knows, maybe these cells get too hot next to each other.

I will try to find the response, but it has been almost a month. No more......

PS: It would be great if the first poster tested them on a wattmeter with a demanding load!

Send me a watt meter and I'll be more than happy to do a side by side test for you.

Your right, this would have been better to be in the Battery forum, but I figured placing it here would give the guys an idea of size comparason. If they were on the fence about which battery they wanted as far as size wise.
