PIRCAT - Professional internal resistance cell analysis tool

The PIRCAT is a side-development from the existing IRM (which is already quite popular). What is different with the PIRCAT is that it employs a 4-wire / kelvin test system which allows you to more accurately measure the actual cell resistance.

Initially the PIRCAT was aimed to be for cells up to 2V, however there's now work being done to make it work with up to 5V systems, of course this means the system is now going to be more complex.

Is that a LEMO connector on there?

Which LIMO connector specifically? The cabling (4-wire loom) is connected using a mini-XLR connector (4 pin).

I've also found a vastly better type of cell holder with full metal casing and proper contact points (not springs), they cost a bit more but they're good.

Mini XLR is good, a LEMO would make it too expensive

Even Mini-XLR is pretty pricey I looked at some mini-DIN which were a bit cheaper but the pins are just a bit too small to cope with the 2~3A max being used in this application.

One idea I do have however is to actually mount the high quality AA cell holder onto the casing directly... but everything is "on hold" for the moment while I try to catch up with exiting product demands and also I need to work out exactly which product to go with next.

Hello Paul.

When do you think you are ready to sell any Pircats?

Hi there Anders,

While the circuit board itself seems worked out (and the firmware for the most part) I think the problem here is the cost of the housing and the connector/adaptors.

Just can't yet see this going commercial.

Hi Paul.

Ok, I see.

I hope you find a way to put it together.

Thanks.
